The summer of 2026 is heating up, and for the WWE Universe, there’s only one event that truly matters. The Biggest Party of the Summer is almost here, and it’s bigger than ever before.
WWE SummerSlam 2026 is going down Sunday, August 2nd, 2026, as part of a historic two-night extravaganza that kicks off Saturday, August 1st, from the magnificent U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This isn’t just another premium live event—this is a seismic shift in how we experience sports entertainment.
Let me break down everything you need to know about what promises to be one of the most unforgettable weekends in wrestling history.
The Venue: A Cathedral of Sport
First things first—let’s talk about where this all goes down. U.S. Bank Stadium isn’t just any stadium. This state-of-the-art facility, home to the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings, opened in 2016 and has already hosted Super Bowl LII and the NCAA Men’s Final Four. The Athletic even named it the NFL’s top venue in 2023.
With a seating capacity of over 66,000 that can be expanded to 72,000, this indoor marvel provides the perfect setting for the spectacle that is SummerSlam. The 2026 edition marks the first Premium Live Event in Minneapolis since TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs in 2019, and the first time WWE will host a stadium event in the city.
“U.S. Bank Stadium is an absolutely world-class venue situated in a city with rich wrestling history and an amazing fan base.”
— Chris Legentil, WWE EVP Talent Relations & Head of Communications
A Two-Night Revolution
Here’s where things get really exciting. For the second year in a row, SummerSlam is a two-night event—and that changes everything.
Night 1: Saturday, August 1, 2026
Night 2: Sunday, August 2, 2026
Both nights kick off at 6:00 PM ET / 3:00 PM PT. That means two full evenings of world-class wrestling, storytelling, and moments that will be talked about for decades.
Wendy Blackshaw, President and CEO of Minnesota Sports and Events, captured the excitement perfectly:
“SummerSlam coming to U.S. Bank Stadium marks a major moment for Minneapolis and for our state as a whole. This is a truly global event, and we’re excited to welcome fans from across the country and around the world while showcasing Minnesota as a premier destination for world-class sports and entertainment.”
The Stacked Card: What We Know So Far
Now, let’s get to what you really came for—the matches. WWE has already confirmed several blockbuster bouts, and the rumor mill is churning with even more possibilities.
Confirmed Matches
1. Undisputed WWE Championship: CM Punk (c) vs. Cody Rhodes
This is the one we’ve all been waiting for. At SummerSlam, newly crowned Undisputed WWE Champion CM Punk will defend the title against Cody Rhodes in what can only be described as a dream match.
The path to this showdown has been nothing short of chaotic. At WWE Night of Champions, Sami Zayn captured his first WWE Championship in a Triple Threat Match against then-champion Rhodes and Gunther. Rhodes immediately secured the No. 1 Contender position by defeating “Main Event” Jey Uso on the subsequent SmackDown.
But then came the twist. When Rhodes journeyed to the July 6 edition of Raw for his rematch against Zayn, The American Nightmare was suddenly attacked by Gunther and left unable to compete. The disappointed WWE Universe soon received a shock when Chicago’s own CM Punk suddenly emerged to challenge Zayn.
In the hard-fought showdown that followed, The Second City Saint defeated Zayn to capture the Undisputed WWE Title. Now, from the bedlam comes a dream encounter that will see Rhodes get his rematch for the title—but against Punk instead of Zayn.
These two friends boast five combined WWE Title reigns and will be meeting one-on-one for the first time in nearly 18 years.
Potential Twist: According to reports, WWE could book a triple threat or fatal four-way match involving Zayn at SummerSlam, instead of a one-on-one showdown between Rhodes and Punk. As Dave Meltzer reported, “Rhodes vs. Punk match would mean more than Rhodes vs. Gunther. They could also make it a three-way or even a four-way with Zayn”.
2. World Heavyweight Championship: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Seth Rollins
This is personal. WWE has teased a championship match between Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins on multiple occasions, and they could finally lock horns for the World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of SummerSlam.
The history between The Tribal Chief and The Visionary runs deep—from their days as Shield brothers to their bitter rivalry that has defined an era. This isn’t just a title match; it’s a reckoning years in the making.
3. Hell in a Cell Match: Brock Lesnar (w/ Paul Heyman) vs. Oba Femi
King of the Ring winner Oba Femi has opted to face Brock Lesnar inside Hell in a Cell at SummerSlam rather than challenging for the Undisputed WWE Title.
This decision has left plans seeming uncertain for SmackDown’s top prize, but it has created one of the most intriguing matches on the card. The Beast Incarnate against the rising star—inside the most dangerous structure in sports entertainment. This is the kind of match that makes careers.
4. Women’s World Championship: Liv Morgan (c) vs. IYO SKY
IYO SKY earned the right to challenge a Women’s Champion of her choosing when she defeated Morgan in the Queen of the Ring Final at WWE Night of Champions. Moments after capturing the win, The Genius of the Sky declared that she would again take on Liv, this time for the title.
Morgan has thrice won the WWE Women’s Championship and claims to be the greatest Women’s Champion of “AAAAAAAALLLLLL TIIIIIIIME!” With two Women’s Championships and an incredible arsenal at her disposal, SKY has been referred to by many as the greatest Superstar competing today.
5. Intercontinental Championship: Penta (c) vs. Winner of Gauntlet Match
Penta will defend the Intercontinental Championship against the winner of a gauntlet match on Raw. The participants in that match include Dominik Mysterio, Rusev, Joe Hendry, Je’Von Evans, Ethan Page, Chad Gable, and Dragon Lee.
Other Matches to Watch For
The rumor mill suggests we could see even more matches added to the card. A six-man tag team clash featuring The Bloodline’s Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso, and Jacob Fatu—likely against Solo, LA Knight, and Royce Keys—has been speculated. This could see Solo turn and rejoin his family, adding another layer to the ongoing Bloodline saga.

Tickets: What You Need to Know
Pricing and Availability
Two-day combo tickets went on sale Friday, May 1 at 10am CT. General presale for the two-day combo tickets began Thursday, April 30 at 10am CT. An exclusive presale offer for Chase Freedom cardmembers began Wednesday, April 29 at 10am CT.
Ticket Sales Update
As of mid-July, ticket sales have been reportedly below expectations. According to WrestleTix, WWE had sold 22,069 tickets for Night 1 and 23,809 for Night 2 as of July 10. This represents roughly a third of the venue’s capacity for each night.
The surprisingly low ticket sales have “been a concern internally” in WWE for several weeks. TKO has faced significant criticism for increasing ticket prices since the WWE-UFC merger was completed in September 2023. Data from Wrestlenomics revealed that WWE ticket prices have nearly doubled since TKO took ownership.
With only four confirmed matches for the SummerSlam 2026 card so far, it’ll be interesting to see if WWE rushes to add more bouts to the card in an effort to sell more tickets quickly.

SummerSlam Priority Passes are available from On Location, the Official Fan Hospitality Partner of WWE. The Road to SummerSlam
The journey to SummerSlam has been marked by shocking twists and turns. Let me walk you through the key moments:
May 2024: Minneapolis announced as host city for 2026 SummerSlam
June 27, 2026: Night of Champions—Sami Zayn captures his first WWE Championship in a Triple Threat Match against Rhodes and Gunther
June 29, 2026: Oba Femi vs. Brock Lesnar in Hell in a Cell is booked out of the Raw in Atlantic City
July 6, 2026: Rhodes is attacked by Gunther, unable to compete. CM Punk emerges to challenge and defeat Zayn for the Undisputed WWE Title
July 10, 2026: Reports surface about disappointing ticket sales
What to Expect: Predictions and Analysis
CM Punk vs. Cody Rhodes
This is the match that has the wrestling world buzzing. Punk and Rhodes have never met one-on-one in a major WWE setting, and the stakes couldn’t be higher. Both men are masters of storytelling, and with the Undisputed WWE Championship on the line, expect nothing less than a classic.
The wildcard? Sami Zayn. If WWE decides to make this a triple threat or fatal four-way, it could completely change the dynamics. Zayn held the championship for just nine days. He’ll be hungry for redemption.
Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins
This feud has been simmering for years. Rollins’ return to WWE at the start of 2026 set the stage for this collision. The Tribal Chief has been dominant, but Rollins has always been the one who could match him psychologically. This could be the match where the paradigm shifts.
Brock Lesnar vs. Oba Femi
Oba Femi turning down a guaranteed title shot to chase Brock Lesnar is a statement. The young King of the Ring winner is betting on himself, and a victory over The Beast Incarnate inside Hell in a Cell would instantly make him a main event player. Lesnar, with Paul Heyman in his corner, won’t go down without a fight.
Liv Morgan vs. IYO SKY
These two have history, and it’s personal. SKY beat Morgan in the Queen of the Ring Final, and now she wants the title. Morgan has been on a roll, but SKY is arguably the most complete performer in the women’s division today. This could steal the show.
Beyond the Matches: The SummerSlam Experience
SummerSlam weekend is about more than just what happens inside the ring. WWE and Minnesota Sports and Events will deliver a host of fan and community events in the days leading up to and after SummerSlam.
From meet-and-greets with WWE Superstars to community outreach programs, the Twin Cities will be buzzing with wrestling energy all weekend long. Wendy Blackshaw promised to make this “summertime wrestling extravaganza accessible for fans of all ages” through “a variety of festivities and ancillary events in the Twin Cities and affordable tickets to the main events”.
The Bigger Picture: SummerSlam in the New Era
This SummerSlam represents a new chapter in WWE history. It’s the first SummerSlam to stream on ESPN in the U.S. under the landmark rights agreement. It’s the second consecutive two-night SummerSlam, following the 2025 edition at MetLife Stadium that drew more than 110,000 fans.
The 2025 event set a gate record for any non-WrestleMania event with $8.5 million, a record that has since been surpassed by the 2024 Royal Rumble in January. The bar has been set high, and Minneapolis is ready to raise it even higher.
