ROH Wrestling Results: July 20, 2023
Ring of Honor Wrestling returned this week with a stacked card, featuring a title match between Jonathan Gresham and Jay Lethal, a Proving Ground Match for the ROH Women’s World Championship, and the return of Dalton Castle.
In the main event, Jonathan Gresham successfully defended his ROH World Championship against Jay Lethal. The match was a technical masterpiece, with both men showcasing their incredible skills. In the end, Gresham hit Lethal with a Lariat to retain his title.
After the match, Matt Taven came out to confront Gresham. Taven said that he was the rightful champion and that he would be taking the title from Gresham soon. Gresham accepted Taven’s challenge and the two men agreed to a match at Death Before Dishonor.
In the other main event, Athena defeated Nikita in a Proving Ground Match to become the number one contender for the ROH Women’s World Championship. The match was a hard-hitting affair, with both women giving it their all. In the end, Athena hit Nikita with a Widow’s Peak to pick up the win.
Dalton Castle made his return to ROH Wrestling in a six-man tag team match. Castle teamed up with The Briscoes to defeat Shane Taylor Promotions. Castle was in great form and looked like he had never been away. The crowd was ecstatic to see Castle back and he received a huge reaction.
In other action, Katsuyori Shibata defeated Daniel Garcia in a Pure Rules Match. The match was a stiff affair, with both men trading blows. In the end, Shibata hit Garcia with a Penalty Kick to pick up the win.
Utami Hayashishita made her ROH Wrestling debut in a match against Trish Adora. Hayashishita is a former Stardom World Champion and she showed why she is one of the best wrestlers in the world. She defeated Adora with a Tiger Suplex.
The Righteous defeated The Boys in a tag team match. The Righteous are a new team on the ROH roster and they are quickly making a name for themselves. They defeated The Boys in convincing fashion.
