The Rock on the injuries he suffered in the match against JohnCena in Wrestlemania 29:
“The whole idea of the match was I was going to crown him champion, pass the torch, and walk off into the sunset. About 10 minutes in, I take a Rock Bottom, I over-rotate, and he drives me down. I feel this pop… I thought a bone came through my skin. I start to get numb from the waist down. I can’t feel anything. I asked the ref, ‘How much more do we have left?’ He goes, ‘About 25-30 minutes.’ In that moment, you can call it off or you could go for it and finish what you committed. I continued, couldn’t feel anything, had to use momentum to move my leg. At the end, I’m feeding up to John Cena. I’m literally praying to God, the universe, Buddha: ‘Please… give me the strength to endure this shitshow.’ He gives me his big slam. Bang again. I wound up completely tearing my abdomen in three places, tore the top of my quad and my adductor from my pelvis. I’m not saying tough, it was just in that moment you want to go out on your shield. And it was important that I raise John’s hand at the end.”
