DID YOU ENJOY WWE NXT: The Great American Bash (2023)?
Man this is awesome
Like every NXT special, people say, “this is awesome, I gotta start watching NXT!” Which makes me happy. They’ve moved on from that awful 2.0 era and there’s a lot of great wrestling and great characters in the promotion.
Spotfest matches
NXT has found a nice balance with spotfest matches.
They still feel incredibly hard hitting and they look like everyone involved is actually trying to win.
They set up the spots faster unless the story calls for it. The distractions and swerves also help hide what would be moments of someone just standing around waiting to get hit by a double 360 tope fuckinator.
Spotfest
I wouldn’t call it a spotfest honestly. It had a pretty coherent story of Melo being the showboat and Ilja having to bring him back down to Earth to unleash Melo’s intensity, to make him fight back and match Ilja’s offense with his own brand of stiff strikes.
I think the spots had a very good reason for happening in the context of the story being told, a spotfest to me would be like the opening ladder match at NXT Takeover New Orleans
I loved it
That main event match was such a fucking spotfest I was jumping I loved it
Fantastic main event
Fun show with a fantastic main event. I don’t know if anyone in wrestling is more intense as Ilja. Dude is nuts.
Really good ppv
Really Good PPV
The Family win gold
Roxanne vs Blair was a great match two ladies just beating the crap out of each other
NA triple threat match absolutely fucked
Melo vs Dragunov was an absolute masterclass
U should watch this show
Who misses Black and Gold should watch this show, because it felt like a Black and Gold show with how good these matches were. Superb talent, and I’m excited for all of them to eventually make their way to the main roster.
Congratulations to Shane McMahon
Congratulations to Shane McMahon for no longer having the worst strikes in WWE history. That honor now belongs to Gable Stevenson. Also congratulations to Baron Corbin for being this subreddit’s hero for at least tonight.
Baron Corbin
Baron Corbin getting another banger theme and was over tonight. Good for him
NXT is the best wrestling show in North America
Melo just jumped a couple of levels after this match. Dragunov better be taken care of, which I think he will be.
Absolutely INSANE. MOTY for many people.
NXT is the best wrestling show in North America to be honest.
Heraclitus
Heraclitus once said – “the only constant in life is NA title multi-man matches being bangers.”
My Ratings are
My Ratings are
Roxanne vs. Blair was fun! Nice that Roxanne got the hometown win, and Blair coming through the crowd just to beat Roxanne’s ass before the bell rang is peak hating.
Baron Corbin vs. Gable Steveson was a match that happened. Gable looked decent and he clearly is very athletic, so I’m sure he’ll get better in time. But man I really don’t like him on my TV that much.
Dom vs. Mustafa vs. Wes Lee was lots of fun and they made Wes look like a beast in defeat. Now give me a steel cage match between Wes and Dom for the NA title you cowards.
Thea vs. Tiffany was fun, definitely didn’t expect Chase to be the one to throw the towel.
Carmelo Hayes vs. Ilja Dragunov was a banger and I guarantee many will overlook this match when MOTY contenders are being brought up.
Definitely gonna rewatch this at a later date.
NXT Great card
NXT Great card full of fun all around. All the Dusty respect was awesome. Little worried about Tiff tho. Something’s not right there
WWE NXT: The Great American Bash (2023) – July 30th, 2023 Results
The Great American Bash is a professional wrestling event established in 1985 by Jim Crockett Promotions. It was later revived by World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and then by WWE. The 2023 edition of The Great American Bash was held on July 30th, 2023, at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park in Cedar Park, Texas. The event was broadcast live on Peacock and the WWE Network.
The card for The Great American Bash featured a number of exciting matches, including a NXT Championship submission match between Ilja Dragunov and Carmelo Hayes, a NXT North American Championship triple threat match between Thea Hail, Tiffany Stratton, and Roxanne Perez, and a Weapons Wild Match between Blair Davenport and Roxanne Perez.
The show kicked off with a pre-show match between NXT Heritage Cup Champion Nathan Frazer, Dragon Lee, Valentina Feroz, and Yulisa Leon against the Meta-Four (Noam Dar, Oro Mensah, Lash Legend, and Jakara Jackson). The match was a fast-paced and action-packed affair, with both teams giving it their all. In the end, it was Frazer who picked up the win for his team, hitting Oro Mensah with a tornado slam for the pinfall.
The main show opened with a match between Tony D’Angelo and Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo against Gallus (Wolfgang and Mark Coffey) for the NXT Tag Team Championship. The match was a hard-hitting affair, with both teams trading blows. In the end, it was D’Angelo and Stacks who came out on top, defeating Gallus to win the NXT Tag Team Championship.
Next up was a Weapons Wild Match between Blair Davenport and Roxanne Perez. The match was exactly what you would expect from a Weapons Wild Match, with both women using a variety of weapons to try and defeat their opponent. In the end, it was Perez who came out on top, defeating Davenport with a steel chair shot to the head.
The next match was a triple threat match for the NXT North American Championship. Thea Hail, Tiffany Stratton, and Roxanne Perez all gave it their all, but in the end, it was Stratton who came out on top, defeating Hail and Perez to retain the NXT North American Championship.
The penultimate match of the night was a submission match for the NXT Championship. Ilja Dragunov and Carmelo Hayes put on a technical masterclass, with both men refusing to give up. In the end, it was Dragunov who came out on top, submitting Hayes to the Ankle Lock to win the NXT Championship.
The main event of the night was a battle between two of the most popular wrestlers in NXT, Dominik Mysterio and Cameron Grimes. The match was a back-and-forth affair, with both men giving it their all. In the end, it was Mysterio who came out on top, defeating Grimes with a 619 and a frog splash.
The Great American Bash was a great show from start to finish. The matches were exciting, the crowd was into it, and the results were unpredictable. If you missed the show, I highly recommend checking it out on Peacock or the WWE Network.

PREVIEW
NXT Championship: Carmelo Hayes (c) vs. Ilja Dragunov
This is a rematch from NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver, where Hayes defeated Dragunov to win the NXT Championship. Dragunov has been on a tear since then, winning several matches, including a victory over Johnny Gargano. This is a chance for Dragunov to get revenge on Hayes and win back the NXT Championship.
NXT Women’s Championship Submission Match: Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Thea Hail
Stratton is the current NXT Women’s Champion, but she has been getting a lot of heat from Hail lately. Hail has been calling out Stratton for being a bully, and she has challenged her to a Submission Match. This is a chance for Hail to prove that she is the best woman in NXT, and to dethrone Stratton as champion.
This is a dream match for many fans, as it features two of the most impressive athletes in WWE. Steveson is a two-time Olympic gold medalist in freestyle wrestling, while Corbin is a former United States Champion. This is a clash of styles, as Steveson is a grappler and Corbin is a striker. This is sure to be a physical match, and it could be one of the most exciting matches of the night.
Gallus (Mark Coffey & Wolfgang) (w/Joe Coffey) vs. The D’Angelo Family (Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo & Tony D’Angelo) (w/Roderick Strong)
This is a grudge match between two of the top tag teams in NXT. Gallus has been on a roll lately, winning several matches, including a victory over The Grizzled Young Veterans. The D’Angelo Family is led by Tony D’Angelo, who is a rising star in NXT. This is a chance for both teams to prove that they are the best tag team in NXT.
These are just a few of the matches that are scheduled for NXT: The Great American Bash (2023). This is sure to be an exciting event, and it is one that you won’t want to miss.
The event takes place on Sunday, July 30, 2023 at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park in Cedar Park, Texas. The main card airs live on Peacock at 8/7 C and on WWE Network everywhere else.
