ROH Death Before Dishonor is one of the biggest events in Ring of Honor history, and the 2023 edition did not disappoint. The show featured a stacked card with a number of exciting matches, and it delivered on all fronts.
The show kicked off with a Ladder Match for the ROH World Championship. The match featured the champion, Jonathan Gresham, defending against the challenger, Bandido. The two wrestlers put on a show-stealing performance, and it was hard to pick a favorite. In the end, it was Gresham who came out on top, retaining his title.
After the Ladder Match, we saw a number of other exciting matches.
In the first match, ROH Women’s World Champion Mercedes Martinez defeated Willow Nightingale. Martinez was dominant throughout the match, and she eventually pinned Nightingale after hitting her with a Fisherman’s Suplex.
In the second match, Jay Lethal defeated Josh Woods to become the new ROH Pure Champion. Lethal was able to outwrestle Woods for most of the match, and he eventually pinned him after hitting him with a Lethal Injection.
In the third match, FTR defeated The Briscoes to win the ROH World Tag Team Championship. FTR were able to overcome the Briscoes’ size and power, and they eventually pinned them after hitting them with their signature move, the Big Rig.
In the fourth match, Samoa Joe defeated Chris Sabin to become the new ROH Television Champion. Joe was able to overpower Sabin for most of the match, and he eventually pinned him after hitting him with a Muscle Buster.
In the main event, Claudio Castagnoli defeated PAC to become the new ROH World Champion. The match was a classic, with Castagnoli and PAC trading blows for 30 minutes. In the end, it was Castagnoli who came out on top, pinning PAC after hitting him with his signature move, the Swiss Death.
The July 21st, 2023 edition of ROH Death Before Dishonor was a great show. There were a number of exciting matches, and the Ladder Match for the ROH World Championship was one of the best matches of the year. I’m looking forward to seeing what ROH has in store for us next year.
