Main Event: Alex Pereira vs. Magomed Ankalaev – A Clash of Titans
The main event of UFC 313 was a fight that had been brewing for months. Alex Pereira, the former Glory kickboxing champion turned UFC phenom, stepped into the octagon to defend his light heavyweight title against the Dagestani powerhouse, Magomed Ankalaev. The stakes were sky-high, and the tension was palpable.
Round 1:
The fight began with Pereira establishing his range, using his signature leg kicks to keep Ankalaev at bay. Ankalaev, known for his calculated approach, stayed patient, looking for openings to close the distance. Midway through the round, Pereira landed a devastating left hook that sent Ankalaev stumbling, but the Dagestani quickly recovered and countered with a takedown attempt. Pereira’s takedown defense held firm, and the round ended with both fighters trading heavy shots in the center of the octagon.
Round 2:
Ankalaev came out more aggressive in the second round, pressing forward with a combination of jabs and body kicks. Pereira, however, remained composed, picking his shots with precision. A perfectly timed knee from Pereira rocked Ankalaev, but once again, the challenger showed his resilience by clinching and neutralizing Pereira’s offense.
Round 3:
The third round was a turning point. Ankalaev managed to secure a takedown and transitioned to Pereira’s back, threatening with a rear-naked choke. Pereira, showing his improved ground game, escaped and returned to his feet, where he unleashed a flurry of strikes that had Ankalaev covering up. The crowd was on its feet as the round ended with both fighters bloodied but still swinging.
Round 4:
Fatigue began to set in, but neither fighter was willing to back down. Pereira continued to land heavy shots, while Ankalaev mixed in takedown attempts to keep the champion guessing. A spinning backfist from Pereira nearly ended the fight, but Ankalaev’s iron chin kept him in the contest.
Round 5:
The final round was a war of attrition. Pereira’s striking accuracy began to wane, and Ankalaev capitalized with a well-timed takedown. From top position, Ankalaev rained down elbows and punches, but Pereira somehow survived and made it back to his feet. In the closing seconds, both fighters swung for the fences, leaving the crowd in awe as the final bell rang.
Result:
After five grueling rounds, the judges awarded Alex Pereira a split decision victory (48-47, 47-48, 48-47). The win solidified Pereira’s status as one of the most dominant champions in UFC history, while Ankalaev’s valiant effort earned him the respect of fans worldwide.
Co-Main Event: Zhang Weili vs. Tatiana Suarez – Strawweight Showdown
In the co-main event, Zhang Weili defended her strawweight title against the undefeated grappling sensation Tatiana Suarez. This fight was a classic striker vs. grappler matchup, and it did not disappoint.
Round 1:
Suarez wasted no time shooting for a takedown, but Weili’s improved takedown defense kept the fight standing. Weili’s striking was sharp, and she landed several clean shots that had Suarez reeling.
Round 2:
Suarez finally secured a takedown and dominated the round with her ground control. Weili, however, showed her resilience by escaping and landing a few significant strikes before the round ended.
Round 3:
The third round was a back-and-forth battle, with Weili stuffing takedowns and landing heavy shots, while Suarez continued to press forward with her grappling.
Round 4:
Suarez’s relentless pressure paid off as she secured another takedown and threatened with submissions. Weili’s defense held, but it was clear that Suarez was gaining momentum.
Round 5:
In the final round, Weili turned up the heat, landing a series of brutal strikes that had Suarez in trouble. A head kick in the closing seconds nearly ended the fight, but Suarez survived to hear the final bell.

As we inch closer to UFC 313: Pereira vs. Ankalaev, the anticipation is reaching a fever pitch. Set to take place on March 8th, 2025, this Pay-Per-View (PPV) event promises to be a night of high-octane action, jaw-dropping finishes, and unforgettable moments. In this comprehensive preview, we’ll dive deep into the main event, the undercard, and everything you need to know before the fighters step into the Octagon.
The Main Event: Pereira vs. Ankalaev – A Battle of Striking Mastery vs. Grappling Dominance
The headline bout of UFC 313 features a clash of styles that has fight fans buzzing with excitement. Alex Pereira, the former Glory Kickboxing champion turned UFC superstar, will square off against Magomed Ankalaev, the Dagestani grappling phenom with a penchant for finishing fights. This fight is not just a battle for the light heavyweight title but a collision of two of the most dangerous fighters in the division.
Alex Pereira: The Striking Phenom
Alex Pereira needs no introduction. With a kickboxing record that includes multiple world championships, Pereira transitioned to MMA and quickly rose through the ranks. His knockout power is legendary, and his precision striking has left a trail of unconscious opponents in his wake. Pereira’s ability to end a fight with a single strike makes him one of the most feared strikers in UFC history.
Pereira’s journey to UFC 313 has been nothing short of spectacular. After avenging his loss to Israel Adesanya in a middleweight title fight, Pereira moved up to light heavyweight, where he continued his dominance. His most recent victory over Jiri Prochazka solidified his status as the king of the division. Now, he faces perhaps his toughest challenge yet in Magomed Ankalaev.
Magomed Ankalaev: The Grappling Maestro
On the other side of the Octagon stands Magomed Ankalaev, a fighter who embodies the relentless grappling and ground-and-pound style that has made Dagestani fighters so dominant in the UFC. Ankalaev’s wrestling is suffocating, and his ability to control opponents on the ground is second to none. With a record that includes victories over some of the best in the division, Ankalaev is a nightmare matchup for anyone.
Ankalaev’s path to UFC 313 has been marked by dominance. After a controversial draw in his title fight against Jan Blachowicz, Ankalaev rebounded with a series of impressive wins, including a submission victory over Anthony Smith. Now, he has his sights set on Pereira’s title, and he’s determined to prove that grappling reigns supreme.
The Stakes
This fight is more than just a title defense for Pereira or a title shot for Ankalaev. It’s a battle for legacy. Can Pereira’s striking overcome Ankalaev’s grappling? Or will Ankalaev’s ground game prove too much for the kickboxing king? The answer will be revealed on March 8th, 2025, and fight fans around the world will be watching.
The Co-Main Event: A Featherweight Showdown
While the main event is stealing the headlines, the co-main event is equally compelling. In a featherweight bout that could have title implications, Yair Rodriguez takes on Movsar Evloev. Rodriguez, known for his unorthodox striking and highlight-reel knockouts, will look to cement his place as the next title challenger. Evloev, on the other hand, is an undefeated grappling specialist who has been quietly climbing the ranks. This fight promises to be a classic striker vs. grappler matchup, and the winner could be next in line for a shot at the featherweight title.
The Undercard: A Night of Rising Stars and Veteran Warriors
UFC 313’s undercard is stacked with exciting matchups that showcase the depth of talent in the UFC. Here are some of the fights to keep an eye on:
- Sean O’Malley vs. Cory Sandhagen (Bantamweight)
- Two of the most dynamic strikers in the bantamweight division will go head-to-head in what promises to be a stand-up war. O’Malley’s flashy striking and Sandhagen’s technical precision make this a must-watch fight.
- Amanda Ribas vs. Virna Jandiroba (Strawweight)
- A clash of styles in the women’s strawweight division as Ribas’ well-rounded game takes on Jandiroba’s world-class Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
- Jalin Turner vs. Rafael Fiziev (Lightweight)
- Two explosive lightweights will look to make a statement in a division stacked with talent. Expect fireworks from start to finish.
- Bo Nickal vs. Khamzat Chimaev (Middleweight)

Very good show
I think his Ic run being so long hurt him as a credible world champion. It’s like he fought all the same guys and crushed them for a mid card belt now we are supposed to believe they are an actual challenge to him as a world champion? Lol when they took the intercontinental title off of him they should have moved him to SmackDown and put a new list of challengers in front of him. And moved Cody and the WWE championship to raw
Very good episode,
imagine being deluded enough to think a multi billion dollar company with guys who literally have wrestling in their blood hot shoted a heel turn storyline because they booked themselves into a corner. are you serious dude? that is the most ridiculous thing i have read in a minute lol. good luck bro.
Great episode.
Punk/Cody was there for the taking and Cena could’ve gone up against Gunther.
They knee jerked a heel turn because they booked themselves into a nepotism corner
Very good show
honestly don’t get the hate. like sure, there’s no major story here YET. But Punk/Rollins/Reigns has a lot of potential to be a high quality match. I’m legit looking forward to it and love that these three have wound up in a match together.
Great episode.
The triple threat match between them at Wrestlemania is gonna be awesome. Super stoked for this match
Great show
Let’s mention the women’s match in every live/hate challenge. Easiest task for this group of “journalists” ever. Each one of these love/hates are more embarrassing than the last. We get it, women’s wrestling is amazing and should main event every show and if a women’s match is bad it’s because where it is on the card or the booking it’s never the talent, all the women are top tier wrestlers.
Very good show
You wanna find out who the real simps and shills are? Mark down anybody who defends that main event match! Even the diehard AEW fans are crapping on that main event. It was terrible.
This Moxley stuff is stinking out the entire show and the dude seems to think he is Brock Lesnar.
The sad part is that this wasn’t a terrible show overall and with all things taken into an account. But at the end of the day, a bad ending can ruin a whole show for a lot of people. “Game of Thrones season 8” style.
Great show
So the crux of it all is that the PLE started strong…then ended with a sour belch.
The fans most remember how you left them and the fans are going to remember this show with a resounding “bleh”!
And any casual fan who watched with their buddies who are more diehard fans, may have left the viewing saying aloud, “That guy was pretty good. He should go to WWE”.
Great show.
I’ve said before but I think one of the issues here is that Tony is a massive fan of NJPW and often looks to emulate their PPV card structure. NJPW cards typically build to a climax with the big matches back to back and tend not to feature cool down matches or spots. Problem is western audiences haven’t been conditioned for that over the last 40 years, so often results in burnout. Personally I would have laid out the card like below giving breathing spaces, opening with the Steel Cage match and building to the Hollywood Ending as the main event.
Storm vs. May
Mox vs. Cope
Hangman vs. MJF
Hurt Syndicate vs. Outrunners
Takeshita vs. Omega
Swerve vs. Ricochet
Okada vs. King
Mone vs. Watanabe
Ospreay vs. Fletcher
Great episode.
Very good show, but the ending is what people remember. WWE ended Elimination Chamber with a huge heel turn. AEW ended Revolution with that abominable ending.
it doesn’t totally undo a great show, but it might have done more harm than good.
Very good show
I can already see Trips the mark statues, Trips the mark with a 20 minutes speech, the camera focusing onTrips the mark every 30 seconds when he is on the crowd.
Great show.
I’m glad they are bringing it back to a nice venue. The idea of hosting it immediately after Smackdown is insane. Why not put a highlight show or broadcast the Hall of Fame instead of airing Smackdown that week.
best of the best
Very good show tonight
