That 40 minutes was better than the rest of the show
That 40 minutes was better than the rest of the show and Raw combined imo. Maybe I’m just a sucker for Heel Rock but I could watch him talk shit for hours.
Man the Rock is hilarious,
thank God the fans turned on him this whole story is going to be great. You can already see how they are planting alot of seeds, Rock turning on Roman, Solo ready to break out, etc

How about Seth gets so injured in the rage he can’t defend his title on night 2 against drew.
Drew is awarded the title but is unhappy that he couldn’t compete. Issues an open challenge right there and then
Out comes Sami Zayn. Wins the title.
Zayn gets his magic moment.
Drew can continue to complain about being screwed.
Gets the title off Seth without him losing – and gives him a bunch of feuds when he comes back (Sami, Drew, bloodline)
obviously they are putting heavy focus on roman upset with rock getting so much attention,
especially when heyman was announcing him in. I think it’s weird that…. Roman seems focused on the rock and the rock seemed focused on cody…Roman should be the one feuding with cody lol.
can’t tell if rock is doing that L on purpose but it seemed he was more confused than anything.
And obv rock/roman are winning that tag, there’s no way roman will get pinned the night before…it would destroy his image on night 2. And there’s no way Rock is getting pinned. cody/Roman will be an avengers match, everyone will be involved in an all out war. Cody/Seth lose night 1, and both win Night 2. Drew is going to be the next shinsuke
I think the Rock Roman dynamic is just as interesting,
and secretly MORE interesting than the Cody Roman story. I have wanted a “Rock challenges for head of the table” for years. So did everyone else, it was just a couple years too late to be the main focus.
Only Roman and the Rock could make a 40 minute opening segment the best part of the show.
Absolute fire. You could hear the desperation in Roman’s voice when told Glendale to acknowledge him and the quivering when he asked Rock to acknowledge him. He’s jealous again. Just like when Sami was getting cheered over him.
As expected that Dakota turn was great. Bayley finally experienced what’s it like to be on the other side of the numbers game. Iyo and the Kabuki Warriors better watch out though. Dakota has betrayed everyone she’s ever worked with.

Was everyone else’s screen going black or the sound cutting out for a shit load of the Bloodline promo? What were they chanting or not showing?
It’s crazy to think that SmackDown was named after a Rock catchphrase,
and here he is 25 years later killing it on the show. Also, I never thought i’d hear HHH chants during a Rock segment.
I feel like it would make more sense for Rock/Roman to LOSE Night 1,
to go for a bit of that Honky Tonk Man vs Warrior schtick where the heel that talks himself up has no way out and no one to blame but himself for the impending failure that happens, then Rock lambasts Roman for not getting the job done and then Roman gets the Bloodline to Brock vs Hogan him, take him out for a while, lose to Cody again in a rematch with Roman’s help being parried by Cody’s help, then that brings Rock back to take the head of the table at Summerslam and overshadow Cody when Cody’s babyface run eventually hits the bricks once people realize, like with Bryan and Punk before him, that the chase was always better than the victory lap.
What I found particularly interesting about the Bloodline segment is that,
for the first time in a long time, Roman isn’t in the spotlight. Everyone is focused on The Rock and Cody Rhodes and Roman HAAATES it. He despises when he isn’t the center of attention, hence why he asked Rock to acknowledge him.
Hell, even the audience seemed more interested in booing Rock or cheering Cody, while they don’t seem to care about Roman. Strange times.
At first I thought Rock would just usurp Roman and the latter would default to a babyface, but then I remembered “Oh yea, nobody is going to boo Rock long-term” so yea, it makes a bit more sense for Rock go babyface eventually after Mania.
What probably happens is that Rock/Roman win Night 1 to add adversity to the Night 2 event, Cody still somehow manages to win. Whether Rock betrays Roman that night or not. Roman goes postal on Rock and beats the hell out of him and writes him off TV for a while, while Roman tries (and unsuccessfully) get his belt back.

Honestly think its waaaay more interesting having Rock and Roman fighting for Head of the Table through passive aggressive in-fighting against a common enemy than them just having a match over it. Making Rock actually part of the Bloodline mafia drama instead of aligning him against the Bloodline outright like Superman feels more in line with the Bloodline storytelling
She’s still going to get that big Mania match for her career but just feels a little underwhelming at the moment.
Personally I’m disappointed at how decidedly lower tier Iyo feels as champion compared to every other singles champion. She wasn’t at the Mania press event, she’s had basically zero presence at the last two PLE’s and the Kabuki Warriors have had way more visibility lately.

A pretty good show tonight
. The people who say one of the best SDs I wonder, do people watch Raw as well or did they give up because of the three hours? IMO Raw has been the A-show for months, and Smackdown always seems a bit weaker. This week is no exception, but there was a lot of good stuff on the show. The opening promo (too long but still good and I like where things are going definitely), Rey’s return (That 619 was great wow), and a fun main event. Plus the Dakota turn. Overall solid things on the show. It just always seems a bit more adrift than Raw which seems more focused (I think because it has some of the most compelling performers in the WWE right now as well especially Drew Mcintyre)

i think Randy would be a better fit – he’s got tag team history with cody and rivalry with both roman and rock.

It’s honestly a shame that a 50 year old washed up Rock promo was able to grab my attention more than anyone else of the past decade. He’s just head and shoulders above everyone else in terms of mic and charisma and it shows. Just when the bloodline story was wearing thin, Dwayne gave it the shot in the arm it needed. I haven’t been glued to my TV like this in ages.

Like most photo ops of this kind, it was incredibly brief but the only thing it cost me was time lining up for a wristband. I asked her if we could do her signature pose and she said “Absolutely!”. I thanked her and walked away with a nice memento of the event.
