let’s dive into the electrifying world of Monday Night RAW! Strap yourselves in, because the fallout from Backlash promises to detonate across the three hours of television’s most explosive weekly episodic spectacle. This is your premier, deep-dive preview for WWE RAW, broadcasting live on May 5th, 2025!

I’m your guide through the chaos, the controversy, and the sheer carnage that awaits us. Forget Cinco de Mayo celebrations elsewhere; the real fireworks are set to ignite within the hallowed ropes of a WWE ring. Last weekend’s Backlash Premium Live Event wasn’t just another show; it was a landscape-altering tremor that has sent shockwaves rippling through the entire RAW roster. Titles changed hands under dubious circumstances, new nightmares emerged, and old grudges were potentially reignited. Tonight, we don’t just pick up the pieces; we witness the construction of a new era, built on the foundations of Backlash’s breathtaking moments.

What questions burn brightest as we head into tonight’s RAW? What scores need settling? Which Superstars will rise from the ashes of defeat, and which champions will begin their reigns with dominance, defiance, or perhaps… deception? We’re peeling back the curtain, analyzing the angles, and predicting the pandemonium. Get ready, WWE Universe, because RAW is set to deliver a broadcast that will be talked about for weeks to come. This isn’t just another Monday night; it’s the first Monday night of a radically reshaped RAW reality.

The Reign of the Scottish Psychopath Begins… Or Does It?

The biggest headline screaming from the Backlash aftermath is undoubtedly the coronation of Drew McIntyre as the new World Heavyweight Champion. But let’s be brutally honest – the victory wasn’t exactly clean, was it? McIntyre, embracing a darker, more ruthless side than ever before, seemingly capitalized on chaos, perhaps involving interference or a bending of the rules (details might still be murky depending on the exact finish simulation), to dethrone the valiant former champion (let’s assume it was Damian Priest or perhaps even Jey Uso he overcame).

Tonight, McIntyre is scheduled to address the WWE Universe. Expect swagger. Expect arrogance. Expect a diatribe about how he earned this, how he willed this into existence, how everyone doubted him, and how this is his show now. He’ll likely mock his fallen opponent, dismiss any controversy surrounding his victory, and declare himself the rightful king of the RAW mountain. He’s likely to claim he did what Priest, or Uso, or anyone else couldn’t – bring the title back to where it truly belongs.

But McIntyre’s monologue won’t exist in a vacuum. The shadow of the man he vanquished looms large. Will the former champion emerge, battered but not broken, demanding retribution and invoking a rematch clause? The animosity between McIntyre and his Backlash opponent was already sky-high; now, fueled by championship gold and perceived injustice, it could reach catastrophic levels. A face-to-face confrontation seems not just likely, but inevitable. Will fists fly before the night is over?

And let’s not forget the wildcard: “Main Event” Jey Uso. If Jey wasn’t the one McIntyre beat, he was likely screwed over somewhere along the line, perhaps in a number one contender’s match or even during the title match itself. Jey’s quest for singles gold has captivated the audience, and McIntyre represents everything Jey despises – arrogance, entitlement, and a willingness to step on others to get ahead. Jey Uso doesn’t back down, and you can bet your bottom dollar he’ll be looking to insert himself right back into the title picture, Yeet-ing his way into McIntyre’s championship celebration. Could we see Jey interrupt the new champ, setting the stage for a future collision?

Furthermore, the specter of CM Punk still lingers. While Punk might still be on the shelf recovering, his history with McIntyre is venomous. McIntyre’s victory, especially if achieved through nefarious means, is exactly the kind of thing that would draw Punk’s ire. Will Punk deliver a message via satellite? Will his presence be felt indirectly, perhaps through McIntyre’s constant goading? The McIntyre-Punk saga is far from over, and this championship win adds a volatile new chapter.

Tonight is crucial for establishing the tone of McIntyre’s reign. Will he be a fighting champion, albeit a villainous one? Or will he try to duck and dodge immediate challenges? His first night as champion is a statement, and the entire RAW locker room, along with the WWE Universe, will be watching intently. Expect McIntyre to make a bold, perhaps violent, declaration to kick off his era.

Liv Morgan’s Twisted Triumph: The “Revenge Tour” Takes a Golden Turn

The Women’s World Championship scene was utterly upended at Backlash. Liv Morgan, on her self-proclaimed “Revenge Tour,” finally achieved her goal, capturing the title from the seemingly indomitable Rhea Ripley. However, much like the Men’s World Title picture, controversy reigns supreme. Rumors swirl that Morgan didn’t win clean. Did she exploit an injury? Use underhanded tactics? Perhaps receive assistance from an unexpected source?

Regardless of the ‘how,’ the ‘what’ is undeniable: Liv Morgan is the Women’s World Champion. Tonight on RAW, expect Liv to be absolutely insufferable, and brilliantly so. She’ll likely gloat, mock Rhea Ripley’s downfall, and parade the championship as validation for her ruthless actions over the past months. This isn’t the bubbly Liv of old; this is a calculated, spiteful competitor who believes the ends justify the means. She’ll claim Rhea got what she deserved, that this was destiny, and that her reign of revenge has only just begun – now with the ultimate prize as proof of her success.

But where does this leave “Mami”? Rhea Ripley doesn’t take defeat, let alone controversial defeat, lying down. While she might be physically absent tonight, perhaps selling injuries sustained at Backlash (or from Morgan’s alleged cheating), her presence will be felt. We might get a medical update, or perhaps a cryptic video message from Ripley, promising hellfire and vengeance upon her return. The Ripley-Morgan feud has become deeply personal, and losing the championship will only pour gasoline on that inferno. Mami will be back, and when she returns, Liv Morgan’s world will turn upside down. The Judgment Day might also seek retribution on Ripley’s behalf, adding another layer of danger for the new champion.

With Ripley potentially sidelined momentarily, who steps up to challenge Liv Morgan? The RAW women’s division is stacked with talent hungry for opportunity. Could we see Becky Lynch, always near the championship picture, set her sights on Liv? “The Man” certainly wouldn’t approve of Morgan’s methods and wouldn’t hesitate to call her out. What about Nia Jax? The Irresistible Force is always a threat and loves to throw her weight around, especially against a champion she might perceive as vulnerable or undeserving. Perhaps Raquel Rodriguez, seeking to re-establish herself as a top contender? Or even a surprise challenger looking to capitalize on the chaos?

Liv Morgan’s first act as champion will likely be to antagonize everyone. She might issue an open challenge only to mock whoever answers it, or perhaps interfere in another match to assert her dominance. One thing is certain: Liv Morgan’s championship reign promises drama, chaos, and a level of vindictive energy that will make the Women’s World Championship picture must-see television. Tonight, the “Revenge Tour” officially becomes the “Championship Era,” and Liv will ensure everyone knows it.

Sami Zayn: The Underdog Champion vs. The Unstoppable Force?

Amidst the turmoil in the World Title scenes, Sami Zayn continues his reign as the fighting Intercontinental Champion. Zayn, the ultimate underdog who dethroned the mighty Gunther at WrestleMania, embodies passion and resilience. He represents the connection with the WWE Universe, fighting with heart and determination every time he steps into the ring. We can likely expect to hear from Sami tonight, perhaps reflecting on his own journey and contrasting it with the controversial paths taken by McIntyre and Morgan. He stands as a beacon of integrity (mostly!) in a sea of shifting morals.

But a champion’s reign is defined by their challengers, and a monstrous threat appears to be emerging on the horizon: Bron Breakker. Since arriving on RAW, Breakker has been presented as an absolute wrecking machine, a genetic jackhammer with explosive power and intensity that mirrors his legendary family lineage. He’s been decimating opponents, making short work of anyone unfortunate enough to stand across the ring from him. His trajectory is aimed squarely at championship gold, and the Intercontinental Title around Sami Zayn’s waist looks like a prime target.

Could tonight be the night Breakker officially calls out the champion? Imagine the visual contrast: Zayn, the fiery man of the people, against Breakker, the silent, brooding powerhouse. We might see Breakker obliterate another hapless opponent in dominant fashion, perhaps even someone Sami considers an ally, before grabbing a microphone and uttering a simple, chilling challenge: “Zayn… You’re next.”

Alternatively, WWE management, represented perhaps by Adam Pearce, might announce Breakker as the next official challenger, setting the stage for a future title match. This pits Sami’s speed, cunning, and resilience against Breakker’s raw power and devastating Spear. It’s a classic David vs. Goliath scenario, but this Goliath has speed and agility David can only dream of.

Sami Zayn has overcome insurmountable odds before, most notably against Gunther. But Bron Breakker presents a different kind of challenge – younger, faster, perhaps even more explosive. How will Sami strategize against such a force? Will his connection with the crowd be enough to power him through? Or is the Intercontinental Championship destined to be shattered by the sheer power of Bron Breakker? Tonight, the battle lines for the Intercontinental Championship’s future may well be drawn. Keep an eye on both Zayn and Breakker; their paths seem destined to collide, potentially starting this very evening.

Tag Team Turmoil and Judgment Day’s Shadow

The World Tag Team Champions, Awesome Truth (The Miz & R-Truth), continue to provide a unique blend of entertainment and in-ring ability. Their unlikely chemistry has made them fan favorites, but holding tag team gold in WWE puts a massive target on your back. While they might bring the laughs, they’ll need to be serious about the threats surrounding them.

Chief among those threats is undoubtedly The Judgment Day. While Damian Priest may have lost the World Heavyweight Title (in our scenario), the faction remains a powerful force. Finn Bálor and JD McDonagh are former Tag Team Champions themselves and are always lurking, seeking to bring gold back to the group. With Rhea potentially injured and Priest focused on McIntyre, could Bálor and McDonagh make reclaiming the tag titles their primary focus? They work seamlessly together, guided by a shared ruthless ideology. Expect them to make their presence felt, perhaps attacking Awesome Truth or interfering in one of their matches or segments. “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio could also play a factor, causing distractions and chaos as only he can.

But Judgment Day isn’t the only threat. What about Imperium? Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci are still seeking to prove their dominance and uphold the honor of the mat. A championship run would certainly fit their mandate. Could DIY (Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa) finally put it all together and make a serious run for the titles they seem destined to hold? Don’t discount teams like The New Day (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods) or the Creed Brothers (Julius & Brutus Creed), who are always capable of stepping up and stealing the show.

Tonight’s RAW could feature a number one contender’s match for the Tag Team Titles, or perhaps Awesome Truth will issue a challenge themselves. Maybe R-Truth will hilariously misinterpret a situation, leading them into conflict with a dangerous team like Judgment Day. The tag team division is brimming with possibilities, and Awesome Truth’s reign could face its sternest test starting tonight.

Other Sparks Ready to Ignite:

Beyond the major title pictures, several other situations demand attention tonight:

  • Chad Gable’s Descent: Master Gable’s heel turn and betrayal of Sami Zayn, followed by his continued torment of his former Alpha Academy acolytes (Otis, Akira Tozawa, Maxxine Dupri), has been captivating. Gable’s quest for respect has twisted into bitter resentment. How will he continue to assert his authority? Will Otis finally stand up to his former mentor? Expect another intense chapter in this personal saga. Gable might target Sami Zayn again, or perhaps focus his venom solely on dismantling what’s left of his Academy.
  • Seth “Freakin” Rollins Update?: The Architect has been absent since his heroic, albeit losing, efforts at WrestleMania. An update on his recovery status would be huge news for the WWE Universe. When is Rollins coming back, and who will he target upon his return? Even a brief video package or social media mention could send ripples through the fanbase.
  • The Rise of Bronson Reed?: While Bron Breakker seems destined for the IC title scene, “Big” Bronson Reed continues to carve a path of destruction. Where does his monstrous power fit into the current landscape? Could he find himself embroiled in the United States Championship picture (if drafted?) or simply continue to flatten anyone who gets in his way on RAW?
  • Ricochet’s Next Flight: Always ready to defy gravity, what’s next for RAW’s resident Superhero? Will he seek championship gold, perhaps eyeing Sami Zayn’s IC title down the line, or find himself in a high-flying feud with another agile competitor?

What to Expect Tonight (May 5th, 2025):

  • Drew McIntyre’s Championship Address: The new World Heavyweight Champion kicks off his reign. Expect arrogance, defiance, and likely interruption(s) from disgruntled former champions or contenders like Jey Uso.
  • Liv Morgan Celebrates Her Title Win: The new Women’s World Champion gloats and revels in her controversial victory over Rhea Ripley. Who will step up to challenge her first?
  • Bron Breakker Makes a Statement: Expect another dominant performance, potentially followed by a direct challenge to Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn.
  • Judgment Day on the Prowl: With setbacks in the World Title scene, Finn Bálor & JD McDonagh could refocus on the World Tag Team Championships held by Awesome Truth.
  • Chad Gable Continues His Tyranny: Master Gable will likely further torment the remnants of Alpha Academy or seek conflict elsewhere.
  • Potential #1 Contender Matches: We could see qualifying matches or multi-person bouts set up to determine future challengers for the various championships.
  • Surprises?: It’s the RAW after a major PLE! Always expect the unexpected – a shocking return, a new alliance, or a debuting superstar could shake things up even further.

Don’t Miss a Moment!

Tonight’s Monday Night RAW is shaping up to be an absolutely pivotal episode. The ramifications of Backlash are still settling, and the battle lines for the next chapter in WWE’s epic saga are being drawn right before our eyes. New champions must assert their dominance, vengeful rivals plot their retribution, and hungry contenders look to seize their golden opportunities.

Will Drew McIntyre’s reign begin with unchallenged authority or immediate chaos? Can Liv Morgan handle the heat that comes with being the champion and the target of Rhea Ripley’s inevitable wrath? Is Sami Zayn’s time as Intercontinental Champion numbered with Bron Breakker zeroing in? What new threats will emerge in the tag team division?

The only way to find out is to tune in live! Grab your popcorn, settle in, and prepare for three hours of non-stop action, drama, and spectacle. The road to the next Premium Live Event starts NOW, and tonight’s RAW is the first, explosive step on that journey.

Very good show

March 11, 2025

I think his Ic run being so long hurt him as a credible world champion. It’s like he fought all the same guys and crushed them for a mid card belt now we are supposed to believe they are an actual challenge to him as a world champion? Lol when they took the intercontinental title off of him they should have moved him to SmackDown and put a new list of challengers in front of him. And moved Cody and the WWE championship to raw

Ezra

Very good episode,

March 11, 2025

imagine being deluded enough to think a multi billion dollar company with guys who literally have wrestling in their blood hot shoted a heel turn storyline because they booked themselves into a corner. are you serious dude? that is the most ridiculous thing i have read in a minute lol. good luck bro.

honestly don’t get the hate. like sure, there’s no major story here YET. But Punk/Rollins/Reigns has a lot of potential to be a high quality match. I’m legit looking forward to it and love that these three have wound up in a match together.

The triple threat match between them at Wrestlemania is gonna be awesome. Super stoked for this match

Gary

Great show

March 10, 2025

Let’s mention the women’s match in every live/hate challenge. Easiest task for this group of “journalists” ever. Each one of these love/hates are more embarrassing than the last. We get it, women’s wrestling is amazing and should main event every show and if a women’s match is bad it’s because where it is on the card or the booking it’s never the talent, all the women are top tier wrestlers.

Gerald

Very good show

March 10, 2025

You wanna find out who the real simps and shills are? Mark down anybody who defends that main event match! Even the diehard AEW fans are crapping on that main event. It was terrible.

This Moxley stuff is stinking out the entire show and the dude seems to think he is Brock Lesnar.

The sad part is that this wasn’t a terrible show overall and with all things taken into an account. But at the end of the day, a bad ending can ruin a whole show for a lot of people. “Game of Thrones season 8” style.

Frank

Great show

March 10, 2025

So the crux of it all is that the PLE started strong…then ended with a sour belch.

The fans most remember how you left them and the fans are going to remember this show with a resounding “bleh”!

And any casual fan who watched with their buddies who are more diehard fans, may have left the viewing saying aloud, “That guy was pretty good. He should go to WWE”.

Evelyn

Great show.

March 10, 2025

I’ve said before but I think one of the issues here is that Tony is a massive fan of NJPW and often looks to emulate their PPV card structure. NJPW cards typically build to a climax with the big matches back to back and tend not to feature cool down matches or spots. Problem is western audiences haven’t been conditioned for that over the last 40 years, so often results in burnout. Personally I would have laid out the card like below giving breathing spaces, opening with the Steel Cage match and building to the Hollywood Ending as the main event.

Storm vs. May

Mox vs. Cope

Hangman vs. MJF

Hurt Syndicate vs. Outrunners

Takeshita vs. Omega

Swerve vs. Ricochet

Okada vs. King

Mone vs. Watanabe

Ospreay vs. Fletcher

Willie

Great episode.

March 10, 2025

Very good show, but the ending is what people remember. WWE ended Elimination Chamber with a huge heel turn. AEW ended Revolution with that abominable ending.

it doesn’t totally undo a great show, but it might have done more harm than good.

Christian

Very good show

March 10, 2025

I can already see Trips the mark statues, Trips the mark with a 20 minutes speech, the camera focusing onTrips the mark every 30 seconds when he is on the crowd.

Oliver

Great show.

March 10, 2025

I’m glad they are bringing it back to a nice venue. The idea of hosting it immediately after Smackdown is insane. Why not put a highlight show or broadcast the Hall of Fame instead of airing Smackdown that week.

Noah
