That was the night of June 26, 2006, during the height of the D-Generation X reunion. It remains one of the most chaotic segments in Monday Night Raw history.
While Vince McMahon was in the ring attempting to address the audience, Shawn Michaels and Triple H staged a “hostile takeover” of the production truck. Here is how the mayhem unfolded:
The Production Highjack
Audio Sabotage: Every time Vince tried to speak, DX manipulated his microphone. They gave him a high-pitched “chipmunk” voice and then a deep, demonic bass tone, making it impossible for him to get a word out seriously.
Visual Gags: They took control of the Titantron (the big screen), displaying embarrassing photos and “DX-approved” graphics over Vince’s face while he fumed in the ring.
The “Vince Puppet”: In one of the more sophomoric (but classic DX) moments, they used digital effects to manipulate live footage of Vince, making it look like he was saying things he definitely wasn’t.
The Aftermath
The segment served to further the “Class Warfare” storyline between the billionaire Chairman and the rebellious duo. It leaned heavily into the “Breaking the Fourth Wall” style that DX was famous for, acknowledging the behind-the-scenes mechanics of a live TV broadcast to make the Authority look powerless.
It eventually culminated in the infamous Vengeance 2006 and SummerSlam matches, where the McMahons (Vince and Shane) tried—and largely failed—to dismantle the DX reunion.
