In July 1991 WCW fired Ric Flair two weeks before The Great American Bash while he was still the NWA World Heavyweight Champion.

WCW executive Jim Herd refused to return Flair’s $25,000 deposit that every NWA champion was required to put up as a guarantee they would not leave… pic.twitter.com/Q6y7f0XJeu
