NXT Women’s title
Wouldn’t mind seeing a short run of Becky with the NXT Women’s title. The only title she hasn’t won. Besides, pretty sure HBK would book her a lot better than Hunter, it’s very easy.
That shot of Wes with the “cracked” barrier was good.
They got good director/camera man communication in NXT, like how they perfectly frame Bron’s spears out of nowhere.

It feels almost redundant to say but man is the future of WWE blindingly bright with the talent they have here in NXT.
NXT Women’s title

What worked:
Trick vs. Dragunov. Hot opener. Trick is, in my view, a made man after this one.
‘Melo vs. Wes Lee for the NXT title. Looked to me like they went home early after Lee’s crash & burn. I honestly thought Wes might’ve gotten concussed. A rematch with Dragunov, I think, is next for ‘Melo.
Judgment Day loses another tag match. No one expected Raquel Rodriguez to track Rhea & Dom all the way to Orlando, and Dom’s NXT winning streak is gone. Dragon Lee likely now will have to go through Mustafa Ali to get a rematch. Funny how Ali never returned during the mixed tag.
Show opening skit with Tony D & Stacks. Hilarious.
In the middle:
Ava taps out to Ivy in her singles debut. That came too quickly, and we’d soon see why. The Creeds’ undercover stunt is over, and payback is coming next week. I’d love it if Spacey Gacy stuck his nose in it, and pays for it as well.

What didn’t work:
Noam Dar 3-peats as Heritage Cup champion. Help me out here, guys. In NXT UK, how many “seconds” were competitors allowed to have at ringside in these matches? To me, having all of Meta-Farce is too many. I say, send Mensah out there, and send the drama queens to catering.
As I wrote in the live thread, the letter from the committee was suspiciously quick. No follow-up to Dabba-Kato ambushing Tyler Bate, but I’m sticking with my theory that not only did that feud advance, but Meta-Farce cut a deal with D-K.

Trick lost but man I was so impressed with him going toe to toe against a wrestler the caliber of Ilja. Trick is definitely a future Champion in NXT.
It wasn’t very good again,
but I’m glad they gave Tiffany another live promo. It’s her biggest weakness and I’ll gladly take more awkward segments that will benefit her long-term development. I think the biggest issue is you can tell she doesn’t believe what she’s saying. I didn’t believe for a second that she thought she was the greatest NXT Women’s Champ of all time. It just sounds like she’s just reading a script that she memorized. I hope that confidence comes as she gets more reps.

WWE NXT Heatwave 2023: Carmelo Hayes Retains NXT Championship, Noam Dar Wins NXT Heritage Cup
WWE NXT Heatwave 2023 took place on August 22, 2023, at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. The match started off with both men feeling each other out. Lee got the early advantage, but Hayes quickly took control. He hit Lee with a variety of moves, including a suplex, a clothesline, and a knee to the face.
Lee fought back, but Hayes was always one step ahead of him. He hit Lee with a brainbuster and a powerbomb, and he even kicked out of Lee’s finisher, the Spirit Bomb.
In the end, Hayes was able to hit Lee with his finishing move, the Nothing But Net, to retain the title. This is Hayes’ second reign as NXT Champion, and he is showing no signs of slowing down.
Noam Dar Wins NXT Heritage Cup
Noam Dar has been one of the most popular wrestlers in NXT since his debut, and he finally achieved his dream of winning the NXT Heritage Cup at NXT Heatwave.
Dar defeated Nathan Frazer in a best-of-three falls match to win the title. The match was back-and-forth, with both men giving it their all.
In the first fall, Dar hit Frazer with a DDT to win. In the second fall, Frazer hit Dar with a moonsault to even the score. In the third fall, Dar hit Frazer with a running enzuigiri to win the match and the title.
This is Dar’s first reign as NXT Heritage Cup Champion, and he is sure to be a dominant champion. He is one of the most technically gifted wrestlers in NXT, and he has a lot of momentum right now
In the other matches on the card, Dragon Lee and Lyra Valkyrie defeated Dominik Mysterio and Rhea Ripley, Baron Corbin defeated Von Wagner, Ilja Dragunov defeated Trick Williams, and Ivy Nile defeated Ava.
Overall, NXT Heatwave was a great show. The main events were both excellent, and the other matches were also entertaining. It was a great way to kick off the summer.

The next episode of NXT will air on August 29, 2023. In the main event, Carmelo Hayes will defend the NXT Championship against Nathan Frazer in a rematch. Also, Noam Dar will make his first NXT Heritage Cup title defense against a yet-to-be-determined challenger.
