DID YOU ENJOY WWE RAW ON AUGUST 21ST 2023 ?
Akira Tozawa finally won a match. Shinsuke’s promo was excellent
Two women’s matches and they lasted a combined three minutes. It is a three hour show and you can only give a combined three minutes? Like what, it’s the women’s revolution, there should at minimum be 10 minutes per Raw imo. Stuff like this, multiple weeks in a row with only one womens match, and the women’s division getting a rushed 3 minute segment with no match on Smackdown a bit ago needs to be done with. There’s no excuse for this stuff in 2023. (I’m not saying we are back in the Divas era or anything but damn, please care more consistently)
Rhea vs Candice sounds like a great match but it got like 90 seconds… but credit to them it was a really good 90 second match, very competitive with a good finish. Rhea’s new hair is her best look yet. Idk why she needed to beat Candice and Indi, why not like Dana Brooke and a local or something. Her match with Raquel should be good but the build up isn’t too great. Raquel took way too long to look strong in this build.
Becky and Trish feels like it hasn’t advanced at all in months other than rematches. I actually did like Trish’s promo but the crowd didn’t apparently so yikes. Zoey vs Becky in falls count anywhere should be great next week.
Piper and Chelsea vs Kayden and Katana was fine for the one minute it got. That handstand move was awesome. Kayden and Katana are just flat out jobbers now I guess though which sucks because they’re so talented and have a good resume of matches in NXT, but seeing how they were booked in the HHH era of NXT I’m not shocked. But I’m really confused because what now? Kayden/Katana got beat in a minute, and Rhea took less than 5 minutes combined to beat Indi and Candice. Both face tag teams got decimated, so who will challenge Chelsea and Piper? Alba/Isla and Damage CTRL are heels right now… maybe Charlotte and Bianca? Maybe face Feroz and Leon in NXT?
Hoping for better next week, excited for that Falls Count Anywhere match.
Gunther vs Gable was a absolute banger, can’t wait to see the rematch
Nakamura went straight Yakuza shit on his promo god damn
It’s not a Raw without a Judgement Day main event 😂 glad the good guys won
It bothers me how the main event is feeling like the worst part of the show for the last weeks, and in large part because the ending is always the same, JD always losing, it’s getting quite old, they need or to make the Judgment Day win to feel like a real threat again, or at least give the main event spot for other things.
Judgement Day has never been good enough to be featured every week as much as they have.
It feels like an attempt to recreate the Bloodline but it’s not clicking. Rhea barely has storylines around her title, and the Dom + Rhea pairing hasn’t changed in months. The group needs a shakeup, one of them probably should leave soon. Don’t even think Dom needs Rhea anymore to get heat.
Cody Rhodes also is being wasted, he’s the most over guy in the company and doesn’t have a feud going into Payback. It’s so obvious he lost at Mania just because WWE wanted Roman to have 1000 days as champ. They likely will do Cody vs Roman 2 at Mania, but there clearly isn’t any super long-term story around it right now.
That really looked like a shoulder injury for KO.
KO seemed fine during the stunner and pin but when he planted his arm you could see him react with pain. Then he couldn’t lift his arm for a few minutes. Going off personal experience I think his shoulder popped out when he planted and it popped back in. After popping back in he hugged Sami and lifted the title belt but not nearly as high as one normally would.
flop Becky vs Trish
I honestly can’t believe how much of a flop Becky vs Trish turned out to be this was suppose to be the female version of The Rock vs John Cena where two of the biggest stars of their respective generations go against one of another and have memorable segments/matches against one of another and it just doesn’t have any of that it’s like they don’t have any chemistry what a shame.
Chad vs GUNTHER was very good.
Shinsuke’s promo was great.
It’s a shame there wasn’t a full Cody entrance tonight, the crowd was pretty hot tonight, well at least he got a big pop when he came to the rescue of Sami and Kevin and earlier during his promo, but what will he do in payback?.
Good main event.
This Becky Lynch vs. Trish Stratus feud first started back in April and it’s still going lmo
Becky Lynch vs. Trish Stratus seemed like a dream feud / match up, but now it’s become one of the worst parts of Monday Night Raw right now…
Also…, that Women’s tag team “match” was absolutely terrible and definitely the worst match of the night…
Literally the only good thing involving the women tonight was any match or segment involving Rhea Ripley…
Cody ,Sami and Kevin team
I really enjoy Cody ,Sami and Kevin team. Good to see top faces work together
Cutter was clean
That double Cody cutter was clean though.
Gable winning the title on a random raw
Cutting the streak short would have been one of the most unexpected things since I started watching and absolutely top tier. Sadness.
Becky fan I’m over it too
The fans are really not behind the Becky/Trish story. As a Becky fan I’m over it too. I wonder when it ends
I would’ve said SHOOOOSH.
If you had told me a year ago or even less that Chad Gable (even if not by pinfall) would be the first to beat Gunther in a singles match,
In NXT they were all great, and now they’re just fodder.
I feel WWE needs to start pushing the call ups, they are supposed to be the future of the company and they are looking like jobbers with zero personality.
Gable Vs Gunther was the highlight.
Naka had a great vignette. Rest of the show and feuds are stuck on repeat.
Shayna face and have her feud with Rhea after Payback
I really hope they turn Shayna face and have her feud with Rhea after Payback. It would blow if they put her back into montage land after getting that win over Ronda.
I mean, surely, she’s not gonna go the way of Lacey Evans, is she?
Judgement Day has officially gotten overexposed
I think the Judgement Day has officially gotten overexposed and are starting to get stale. They need to take a page out of Roman’s book and take them off TV a couple weeks and greatly reduce their on screen time during the show.
Gunther will look for a rematch.
There is still hope for Master Gable dethroning Gunther and Gable got the win via countout but not the belt. but Gunther will look for a rematch.
Gunther can still pass the record and Gable could still win the belt!
it could happen.
Shinsuke only wants to relieve Seth of the burdensome weight of the championship belt on his ailing back. taking Seth apart and taking the belt will simply be a favor being done. XD
felt like a little heel tease happened from Drew towards innocent bro Riddle. could go either way.
the big main event scene still seems to be in circling the plane mode. Cody doesn’t have his next big thing, and probably won’t until after Payback. wouldn’t be surprised if Payback involves Sami/Kevin/Cody teaming up against Judgment Day in some way, even tho that has repeating a lot.
poor Dom-Dom got destroyed tho by like 3 finishers in a row. in all fairness his comrades should have had to drag his lifeless body out back. he shoulda been out cold all the way.
women’s scene was very squashy. Candace got a pseudo-squash done on her. Kayden and Karter got squashed by Piper Niven. they wanted to establish Piper one could tell, but Kayden and Karter is one of the very few true women’s tag teams and should be a real contender rather than fodder.
This era of raw.
Seth, Cody, Sami, KO, Balor & Gunther are the “smackdown six” of this era of raw. That’s not even including Drew, Priest and Dom who are all killing it this year as well.
Here’s the the endings to Raw since they’ve had KO and Sami involved with Judgment Day
May 15, Finn pins Sami
May 22, Kevin pins Vinci
May 29, Seth pins Damian
June 5, Seth pins Damian
June 12, Sami pins Ludwig
June 19, Cody pins Damian
June 26, Cody pins Damian
July 3, Seth defeats Dom by dq
July 10, Finn pins Sami
July 17, Sami pins Dom
July 24, Judgment Day stand tall during Finn/Seth contract signing
July 31, Seth pins Damian
August 7, Cody pins Finn
August 14, Cody pins Finn
August 21, Kevin pins Dom
Judgment Day vs Sami, KO and Cody
We’ve been having Judgment Day vs Sami, KO and Cody for the past 2 months so sick of it. Judgment Day should have moved on to Drew McIntyre. Now Drew is in tag team purgatory.
‘Rhea’s the unacknowledged leader of Judgment Day’ direction,
Felt tonight’s show took further steps in the ‘Rhea’s the unacknowledged leader of Judgment Day’ direction, with her telling JD to stay out of things, telling Finn/Priest to work it out and making them tag when they still couldn’t agree.
That Shinsuke segment was awesome,
Might put some gas to this feud, to have go beyond 1 ppv.
I was there and I had so much fun. We were on fire!
I hope they come back to do a televised show in Quebec man…
i can’t imagine that they won’t have an IC match at Payback, so Chad tries again there..but i can’t imagine Gunther doesn’t get the record so he fails again..maybe due to interfearance…
So he’s moved to some other areas for a cycle and perhaps Dragunov comes up from NXT and does a cycle with Gunther…but also doesn’t win.
Which leads to Ilja vs Gable for the right to fight Gunther one more time… (which I’d have Gable win)
The Judgment Day is the most over faction as both individuals and together.
Their chemistry is unmatched. The numbers, reactions and the faith the WWE puts into them to have them interwoven in multiple storylines across several TV shows prove it.
WWE RAW 8/21/23: Chad Gable Upsets GUNTHER, Rhea Ripley Defeats Candice LeRae
The August 21, 2023 edition of WWE RAW was a night of surprises, as Chad Gable upset GUNTHER for the Intercontinental Championship and Rhea Ripley defeated Candice LeRae.

Next, Rhea Ripley faced off against Candice LeRae. Ripley dominated the match, but LeRae managed to get some offense in. In the end, Ripley hit LeRae with the Riptide to get the victory.
After the match, Dominik Mysterio tried to attack The Judgment Day, but he was outnumbered and taken out.

Do you have any predictions for the future of WWE?
I think WWE is in a good place right now. They have a lot of talented wrestlers, and they’re putting on some great shows. I think they’re going to continue to be successful in the years to come.
I think one of the things that WWE is doing well right now is building up new stars. They’re giving people like Chad Gable and Rhea Ripley the opportunity to shine, and I think that’s going to pay off in the long run.
I’m also excited about the potential of The Judgment Day. They’re a very unique group, and I think they have the potential to be one of the most popular factions in WWE.
