This is the best wrestling show of the week and it’s not even particularly close.
New Years Evil
I believe this was the first time since New Years Evil that there was only one women’s match on NXT TV and I doubt that was the og plan with Davenport vs Dolin getting taken off during the show. This is only the third time in 2023 there’s been one women’s match (the first two episodes of the year being the other two), it was a long run that deserves credit for how well the NXT Women are treated.
This episode was dissapointing with women’s content for me though. No live Becky or Tiffany, No Roxanne, No Lyra, no Kiana. Gigi vs Blair didnt happen. We seemingly only have one women’s match for No Mercy after having three at Great American Bash. One match being a short Palmer vs Thea match with at least showcased Thea Hail well and got Palmer back on TV finally. I like her new look and Jacy vs Chase U will be more fun the more this goes on. Her and Jacy better get a tag title shot ASAP tbh.
After Blair got Gigi, I’m interested for when Sol Ruca, Nikkita, Wendy, etc will make their comebacks to get revenge on Blair Davenport, I’d like to see Blair vs Wendy specifically.
Dissapointed women’s wise but thats very rare for NXT and I’m sure they’ll bounce back strong next week. Excited for the fallout of No Mercy + the Tegan Nox title match on Raw.

Bron beats Corbin, maybe even give him the ultimate rub of kicking out of the EOD, and after his win, BPJ comes out and attacks him. Arguably it would make more sense with Von but I think Pillman would be a great final feud for Bron in NXT (especially since WWE seems willing to lean into the WCW stuff). Would be a high profile debut and match.

Tonight’s Star of the Night: Trick Williams.
I wondered why he & Spacey Gacy got so little time, and then, after the post-match promo, the answer came. Trick decided he wanted a title of his own. I knew what that meant. He was coming after Dominik Mysterio and the NA title.
Sure enough, what was announced before the show as a 3-way turned into a 4-way, and Trick falls into the pin to earn the title match. I didn’t think they’d even offer Dragon Lee another title shot after he lost last night, but who else would’ve been in that spot?
Time constraints resulted in some of the other matches being cut short as well. Briggs-Corbin deserved more time, too. Same with Thea vs. Dani Palmer. As suggested, Blair Davenport vs. Gigi Dolin was cut completely, hence the angle to wipe out Gigi, likely delaying the match until Saturday or next Tuesday.
I honestly think it’s too soon to take the tag titles off The D’Angelo Family. I’m trying to get a handle on OTM. Street slang, I know, but don’t ya think they could’ve introduced Nima & Price with that acronym in their first match?
So ya’ll think that teaser video before the contract signing suggests Brian Pillman, Jr.? Um, ok.
