ROH Wrestling 2/20/25: A Night of Legends, Rivalries, and Unforgettable Moments – Live Online Preview
The world of professional wrestling is about to witness another historic night as Ring of Honor (ROH) presents its highly anticipated event on February 20, 2025. This isn’t just another show; this is a celebration of two decades of ROH’s legacy, a night where the past, present, and future of wrestling collide in a spectacle that promises to leave fans breathless. Whether you’re a lifelong ROH fan or a newcomer to the promotion, this event is shaping up to be one for the ages. So, let’s dive deep into what makes this night so special, breaking down the matches, the stakes, and the stories that will define this unforgettable evening.
The Stage is Set: ROH’s 20th Anniversary Extravaganza
ROH has always been a breeding ground for some of the most talented wrestlers in the world. From CM Punk to Bryan Danielson, Samoa Joe to The Young Bucks, the promotion has consistently delivered high-quality wrestling that blends athleticism, storytelling, and raw emotion. The 2/20/25 event is no exception. Taking place at the iconic Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City, the venue itself is steeped in wrestling history, making it the perfect backdrop for this milestone event.
But what truly sets this night apart is the card. ROH has pulled out all the stops, stacking the lineup with dream matches, long-standing rivalries, and title bouts that could redefine the landscape of professional wrestling. Let’s break it down match by match.
Main Event: The ROH World Championship – A Clash of Titans
The main event will see the reigning ROH World Champion, Jonathan Gresham, defend his title against the powerhouse Josh Alexander. Gresham, known as “The Octopus” for his technical mastery, has been on a historic run, carrying the championship with pride and defending it against all challengers. But standing in his way is Alexander, a man who has proven time and time again that he is one of the most dominant forces in wrestling today.
This match is more than just a title defense; it’s a battle of styles. Gresham’s technical precision versus Alexander’s brute strength and resilience. The build-up to this match has been intense, with Alexander claiming that Gresham’s reign has been “too safe” and that he’s ready to bring a new era of dominance to ROH. Gresham, on the other hand, has vowed to prove why he is the best wrestler in the world. Expect a match that will push both men to their limits, with the potential for a show-stealing performance.
The Dream Match: Bryan Danielson vs. Claudio Castagnoli
In what can only be described as a dream match for wrestling purists, Bryan Danielson will face off against Claudio Castagnoli. These two legends have a storied history, both as partners and opponents, and their chemistry in the ring is undeniable. Danielson, the “American Dragon,” is widely regarded as one of the greatest technical wrestlers of all time, while Castagnoli’s combination of strength and agility makes him a unique and formidable opponent.
The stakes here are personal. Both men have expressed a desire to prove who is the better wrestler, and with no titles on the line, this is purely about pride and legacy. Fans can expect a masterclass in wrestling, with a mix of technical grappling, high-impact moves, and the kind of storytelling that only these two can deliver.
Tag Team Turmoil: The Briscoes vs. FTR – One Last Time
The rivalry between The Briscoes and FTR is the stuff of legend. These two teams have battled across multiple promotions, delivering some of the greatest tag team matches in wrestling history. On 2/20/25, they will meet once again, and this time, it’s being billed as the final chapter in their epic saga.
Both teams have promised to leave it all in the ring, and with the ROH World Tag Team Championships on the line, the stakes couldn’t be higher. The Briscoes, with their unrelenting brawling style, will look to outlast FTR’s methodical and precision-based approach. This match has all the makings of an instant classic, and it’s a must-watch for any fan of tag team wrestling.
Women’s Division Showcase: Athena vs. Mercedes Martinez
The ROH Women’s World Championship will be on the line as Athena defends her title against the veteran Mercedes Martinez. Athena has been a dominant champion, bringing a new level of intensity and athleticism to the women’s division. But Martinez is no stranger to championship gold, and her experience and toughness make her a dangerous challenger.
This match is a clash of generations, with Athena representing the new wave of women’s wrestling and Martinez embodying the grit and determination of the old guard. The build-up has been personal, with Martinez accusing Athena of disrespecting the legacy of the division. Expect a hard-hitting, emotionally charged match that will elevate the women’s division to new heights.
The Rising Stars: Lee Moriarty vs. Dante Martin
In a match that showcases the future of ROH, Lee Moriarty will take on Dante Martin. Both men are considered among the brightest young talents in wrestling today, and this match is an opportunity for them to prove that they belong in the upper echelon of the promotion.
Moriarty, known for his technical prowess, will look to ground the high-flying Martin, whose aerial attacks have made him a fan favorite. This match is a chance for both men to steal the show and make a statement that they are ready for the spotlight.
The Wildcard: Samoa Joe Returns
In a surprise announcement, Samoa Joe will be making his return to ROH on 2/20/25. While his exact role on the card is still a mystery, the mere presence of Joe is enough to send shockwaves through the wrestling world. Will he be involved in a match? Will he confront a current star? Whatever the case, Joe’s return is sure to be a highlight of the night.

Very good show
I think his Ic run being so long hurt him as a credible world champion. It’s like he fought all the same guys and crushed them for a mid card belt now we are supposed to believe they are an actual challenge to him as a world champion? Lol when they took the intercontinental title off of him they should have moved him to SmackDown and put a new list of challengers in front of him. And moved Cody and the WWE championship to raw
Very good episode,
imagine being deluded enough to think a multi billion dollar company with guys who literally have wrestling in their blood hot shoted a heel turn storyline because they booked themselves into a corner. are you serious dude? that is the most ridiculous thing i have read in a minute lol. good luck bro.
Great episode.
Punk/Cody was there for the taking and Cena could’ve gone up against Gunther.
They knee jerked a heel turn because they booked themselves into a nepotism corner
Very good show
honestly don’t get the hate. like sure, there’s no major story here YET. But Punk/Rollins/Reigns has a lot of potential to be a high quality match. I’m legit looking forward to it and love that these three have wound up in a match together.
Great episode.
The triple threat match between them at Wrestlemania is gonna be awesome. Super stoked for this match
Great show
Let’s mention the women’s match in every live/hate challenge. Easiest task for this group of “journalists” ever. Each one of these love/hates are more embarrassing than the last. We get it, women’s wrestling is amazing and should main event every show and if a women’s match is bad it’s because where it is on the card or the booking it’s never the talent, all the women are top tier wrestlers.
Very good show
You wanna find out who the real simps and shills are? Mark down anybody who defends that main event match! Even the diehard AEW fans are crapping on that main event. It was terrible.
This Moxley stuff is stinking out the entire show and the dude seems to think he is Brock Lesnar.
The sad part is that this wasn’t a terrible show overall and with all things taken into an account. But at the end of the day, a bad ending can ruin a whole show for a lot of people. “Game of Thrones season 8” style.
Great show
So the crux of it all is that the PLE started strong…then ended with a sour belch.
The fans most remember how you left them and the fans are going to remember this show with a resounding “bleh”!
And any casual fan who watched with their buddies who are more diehard fans, may have left the viewing saying aloud, “That guy was pretty good. He should go to WWE”.
Great show.
I’ve said before but I think one of the issues here is that Tony is a massive fan of NJPW and often looks to emulate their PPV card structure. NJPW cards typically build to a climax with the big matches back to back and tend not to feature cool down matches or spots. Problem is western audiences haven’t been conditioned for that over the last 40 years, so often results in burnout. Personally I would have laid out the card like below giving breathing spaces, opening with the Steel Cage match and building to the Hollywood Ending as the main event.
Storm vs. May
Mox vs. Cope
Hangman vs. MJF
Hurt Syndicate vs. Outrunners
Takeshita vs. Omega
Swerve vs. Ricochet
Okada vs. King
Mone vs. Watanabe
Ospreay vs. Fletcher
Great episode.
Very good show, but the ending is what people remember. WWE ended Elimination Chamber with a huge heel turn. AEW ended Revolution with that abominable ending.
it doesn’t totally undo a great show, but it might have done more harm than good.
Very good show
I can already see Trips the mark statues, Trips the mark with a 20 minutes speech, the camera focusing onTrips the mark every 30 seconds when he is on the crowd.
Great show.
I’m glad they are bringing it back to a nice venue. The idea of hosting it immediately after Smackdown is insane. Why not put a highlight show or broadcast the Hall of Fame instead of airing Smackdown that week.
best of the best
Very good show tonight
