WWE SmackDown Live 2/28/25 Preview: The Road to WrestleMania Heats Up!

The WWE Universe is buzzing with anticipation as we inch closer to the grandest stage of them all—WrestleMania. But before we get there, the blue brand is set to deliver an unforgettable night of action, drama, and jaw-dropping moments on Friday Night SmackDown Live, February 28th, 2025. This isn’t just another episode; this is the final stop before WrestleMania, and the stakes have never been higher. From championship showdowns to personal vendettas, the SmackDown roster is ready to bring the heat. So, let’s dive into what promises to be an explosive night of professional wrestling!

The Universal Championship Picture: Roman Reigns vs. The Rising Storm

Roman Reigns, the undisputed Tribal Chief, has held the WWE Universal Championship for what feels like an eternity. His reign of dominance has been nothing short of historic, but as WrestleMania looms, the cracks in his armor are beginning to show. The Bloodline, once an impenetrable fortress, is now facing internal turmoil. Solo Sikoa’s loyalty is being tested, and Paul Heyman’s whispers grow more cryptic by the week.

Enter Bron Breakker, the second-generation powerhouse who has been on an absolute tear since his main roster debut. Breakker’s intensity, athleticism, and unrelenting drive have made him the number one contender for Reigns’ title. On the February 28th episode of SmackDown, these two titans will go face-to-face in a contract signing for their WrestleMania showdown. But as we all know, contract signings in WWE rarely go according to plan. Will Breakker send a message to the Tribal Chief, or will Reigns remind everyone why he’s the Head of the Table?

The Women’s Division: A Fatal 4-Way for the Ages

The SmackDown Women’s Championship scene is as hot as ever, and the February 28th episode will feature a Fatal 4-Way Match to determine the next challenger for champion Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania. The participants? None other than Charlotte FlairBianca BelairShotzi, and Raquel Rodriguez.

  • Charlotte Flair: The Queen is always a threat, and her quest to reclaim the title she believes is rightfully hers is far from over.
  • Bianca Belair: The EST of WWE is looking to bounce back after a recent loss and prove she’s still the most dominant force in the division.
  • Shotzi: The wildcard of the match, Shotzi’s unpredictable style could be the key to victory.
  • Raquel Rodriguez: With her sheer power and determination, Raquel is a dark horse who could easily walk away with the win.

This match promises to be a show-stealer, with each competitor bringing their A-game. But in the end, only one can earn the right to face Rhea Ripley on the grandest stage of them all.

The Tag Team Turmoil: The Usos vs. The New Day

The tag team division on SmackDown has been electric, and the rivalry between The Usos and The New Day has reached a boiling point. These two teams have a storied history, and their battles have defined the tag team division for years. On February 28th, they’ll collide once again in a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match to determine the true kings of the tag team mountain.

The stakes couldn’t be higher, as the winners will not only earn bragging rights but also a shot at the SmackDown Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania. Expect high-flying maneuvers, brutal strikes, and plenty of drama as these two legendary teams leave it all in the ring.

The Intercontinental Championship: Gunther’s Open Challenge

Gunther, the Ring General, has been a dominant force as the Intercontinental Champion. His matches are a masterclass in technical wrestling, and his reign has brought prestige back to the title. On the February 28th episode of SmackDown, Gunther will issue an Open Challenge to anyone in the locker room brave enough to step up.

Who will answer the call? Will it be a rising star looking to make a name for themselves, or a veteran seeking one last shot at glory? One thing’s for sure: whoever steps into the ring with Gunther will have their work cut out for them.

The Bloodline’s Internal Struggles

The Bloodline has been the most dominant faction in WWE for years, but cracks are beginning to show. Roman Reigns’ paranoia is growing, and tensions between him, Solo Sikoa, and Paul Heyman are reaching a boiling point. On the February 28th episode, we’ll get a glimpse into the inner workings of the Bloodline as they address the WWE Universe.

Will the faction stay united, or will the pressure of WrestleMania cause them to implode? One thing’s for certain: the future of the Bloodline hangs in the balance.

The Return of a Legend?

Rumors have been swirling about a potential surprise appearance on the February 28th episode of SmackDown. Could we see the return of a WWE legend? Names like The RockJohn Cena, and even CM Punk have been thrown around, and the WWE Universe is buzzing with speculation. Whether it’s a surprise return or a shocking debut, this episode of SmackDown could be one for the history books.

The Undercard: Rising Stars and Future Legends

While the main events are sure to steal the show, the undercard is packed with talent ready to prove themselves. Keep an eye on Cameron GrimesLA Knight, and Zoey Stark as they continue to climb the ranks and make their mark on SmackDown. These rising stars are the future of WWE, and every match is an opportunity to shine.

Final Thoughts: A Night You Can’t Miss

The February 28th episode of SmackDown is shaping up to be one of the most exciting nights in recent memory. With WrestleMania just around the corner, every match, every segment, and every moment matters. The stakes are high, the tension is palpable, and the WWE Universe is in for a treat.

So, mark your calendars, set your reminders, and get ready for an unforgettable night of action. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or a newcomer to the world of WWE, this episode of SmackDown is one you won’t want to miss. The road to WrestleMania is heating up, and the blue brand is leading the charge.

Very good show

March 11, 2025

I think his Ic run being so long hurt him as a credible world champion. It’s like he fought all the same guys and crushed them for a mid card belt now we are supposed to believe they are an actual challenge to him as a world champion? Lol when they took the intercontinental title off of him they should have moved him to SmackDown and put a new list of challengers in front of him. And moved Cody and the WWE championship to raw

Ezra

Very good episode,

March 11, 2025

imagine being deluded enough to think a multi billion dollar company with guys who literally have wrestling in their blood hot shoted a heel turn storyline because they booked themselves into a corner. are you serious dude? that is the most ridiculous thing i have read in a minute lol. good luck bro.

Rowan

Great episode.

March 11, 2025

Punk/Cody was there for the taking and Cena could’ve gone up against Gunther.

They knee jerked a heel turn because they booked themselves into a nepotism corner

Hudson

Very good show

March 11, 2025

honestly don’t get the hate. like sure, there’s no major story here YET. But Punk/Rollins/Reigns has a lot of potential to be a high quality match. I’m legit looking forward to it and love that these three have wound up in a match together.

Willie

Great episode.

March 11, 2025

The triple threat match between them at Wrestlemania is gonna be awesome. Super stoked for this match

Gary

Great show

March 10, 2025

Let’s mention the women’s match in every live/hate challenge. Easiest task for this group of “journalists” ever. Each one of these love/hates are more embarrassing than the last. We get it, women’s wrestling is amazing and should main event every show and if a women’s match is bad it’s because where it is on the card or the booking it’s never the talent, all the women are top tier wrestlers.

Gerald

Very good show

March 10, 2025

You wanna find out who the real simps and shills are? Mark down anybody who defends that main event match! Even the diehard AEW fans are crapping on that main event. It was terrible.

This Moxley stuff is stinking out the entire show and the dude seems to think he is Brock Lesnar.

The sad part is that this wasn’t a terrible show overall and with all things taken into an account. But at the end of the day, a bad ending can ruin a whole show for a lot of people. “Game of Thrones season 8” style.

Frank

Great show

March 10, 2025

So the crux of it all is that the PLE started strong…then ended with a sour belch.

The fans most remember how you left them and the fans are going to remember this show with a resounding “bleh”!

And any casual fan who watched with their buddies who are more diehard fans, may have left the viewing saying aloud, “That guy was pretty good. He should go to WWE”.

Evelyn

Great show.

March 10, 2025

I’ve said before but I think one of the issues here is that Tony is a massive fan of NJPW and often looks to emulate their PPV card structure. NJPW cards typically build to a climax with the big matches back to back and tend not to feature cool down matches or spots. Problem is western audiences haven’t been conditioned for that over the last 40 years, so often results in burnout. Personally I would have laid out the card like below giving breathing spaces, opening with the Steel Cage match and building to the Hollywood Ending as the main event.

Storm vs. May

Mox vs. Cope

Hangman vs. MJF

Hurt Syndicate vs. Outrunners

Takeshita vs. Omega

Swerve vs. Ricochet

Okada vs. King

Mone vs. Watanabe

Ospreay vs. Fletcher

Willie

Great episode.

March 10, 2025

Very good show, but the ending is what people remember. WWE ended Elimination Chamber with a huge heel turn. AEW ended Revolution with that abominable ending.

it doesn’t totally undo a great show, but it might have done more harm than good.

Christian

Very good show

March 10, 2025

I can already see Trips the mark statues, Trips the mark with a 20 minutes speech, the camera focusing onTrips the mark every 30 seconds when he is on the crowd.

Oliver

Great show.

March 10, 2025

I’m glad they are bringing it back to a nice venue. The idea of hosting it immediately after Smackdown is insane. Why not put a highlight show or broadcast the Hall of Fame instead of airing Smackdown that week.
