WWE SmackDown Live 3/7/25: A Night of Explosive Action, Unfinished Business, and Shocking Twists
The WWE Universe, brace yourselves! The road to WrestleMania 41 is heating up, and this Friday night, SmackDown Live on March 7, 2025, promises to deliver an unforgettable night of high-octane action, jaw-dropping moments, and storylines that will leave fans buzzing. With just weeks to go before the grandest stage of them all, the blue brand is pulling out all the stops to ensure that every second of this episode counts.
From championship showdowns to personal vendettas, and from surprise returns to shocking betrayals, this preview will break down everything you need to know about the upcoming SmackDown Live. So, grab your popcorn, settle into your favorite spot, and let’s dive into what’s shaping up to be one of the most explosive episodes of the year!
The Main Event: Universal Championship Chaos
The Universal Championship picture has been nothing short of chaotic in recent weeks, and this Friday, the chaos reaches a boiling point. Reigning champion Roman Reigns is set to defend his title against the relentless Cody Rhodes, who has been chomping at the bit to reclaim the gold he believes is rightfully his.
The tension between these two has been simmering since their epic clash at WrestleMania 40, and with Cody’s recent victory in the Elimination Chamber, he’s earned another shot at dethroning The Tribal Chief. But let’s not forget the wildcard in this equation: Solo Sikoa. The enforcer of The Bloodline has been lurking in the shadows, and rumors are swirling that he may have his own agenda. Will Solo interfere to ensure Roman retains, or could he shock the world by turning on his own family?
This match isn’t just about the title—it’s about legacy, pride, and the future of SmackDown. Will Cody finally finish his story, or will Roman Reigns continue his historic reign as the Head of the Table?
Women’s Division Showdown: Iyo Sky vs. Bianca Belair
The women’s division on SmackDown has been on fire, and this Friday, two of the brand’s biggest stars collide in a match that could have major implications for WrestleMania. Iyo Sky, the cunning and high-flying leader of Damage CTRL, will go one-on-one with Bianca Belair, the EST of WWE.
These two have been trading victories and insults for weeks, and their rivalry has become one of the most personal on the roster. Iyo’s technical prowess and unorthodox style make her a dangerous opponent, but Bianca’s raw power and athleticism are unmatched. With both women eyeing a potential championship opportunity at WrestleMania, this match is about more than just bragging rights—it’s about momentum.
And let’s not forget the potential for outside interference. Damage CTRL has been known to stack the odds in their favor, but Bianca is no stranger to overcoming adversity. Will she rise to the occasion, or will Iyo Sky prove why she’s one of the most dominant forces in the women’s division?
Tag Team Turmoil: The Usos vs. The Street Profits
The tag team division on SmackDown has been revitalized in recent months, and this Friday, two of the most exciting teams in WWE will go head-to-head. The Usos, now free from The Bloodline’s shadow, are looking to reclaim their spot as the top tag team in the world. Standing in their way are The Street Profits, who have been on a roll since aligning with Bobby Lashley and forming the new Hurt Business.
This match is more than just a battle for supremacy—it’s a clash of styles. The Usos’ precision and chemistry are second to none, but The Street Profits’ high-flying antics and raw energy make them a formidable opponent. With both teams vying for a shot at the Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania, the stakes couldn’t be higher.
And let’s not overlook the potential for chaos outside the ring. Bobby Lashley and Montez Ford’s recent tension has been well-documented, and if things spiral out of control, it could cost The Street Profits dearly. Will The Usos prove they’re still the gold standard, or will The Street Profits cement their status as the future of the division?
The Return of a Legend: John Cena’s Open Challenge
In a shocking announcement earlier this week, WWE revealed that John Cena will be making a special appearance on SmackDown Live. The 16-time world champion has issued an open challenge to anyone on the roster, and the WWE Universe is buzzing with speculation about who will step up to face the Cenation Leader.
Will it be a rising star looking to make a name for themselves? Or could we see a returning veteran looking to prove they’ve still got what it takes? One thing’s for sure: when John Cena is in the building, anything can happen. This segment is guaranteed to be a highlight of the night, and it could set the stage for a major WrestleMania moment.
The Rise of Bron Breakker
One of the most exciting stories on SmackDown right now is the meteoric rise of Bron Breakker. The second-generation superstar has been on a tear since joining the main roster, and this Friday, he’s set to face off against LA Knight in what promises to be a hard-hitting encounter.
LA Knight has been vocal about his disdain for Breakker, calling him an overhyped rookie who hasn’t earned his spot. But Breakker has proven time and time again that he’s the real deal, and a victory over a seasoned veteran like Knight would be a huge statement.
This match is a classic clash of youth vs. experience, and it could have major implications for both men’s WrestleMania plans. Will Bron Breakker continue his ascent, or will LA Knight prove that he’s still the one running SmackDown?
The Wildcard: A Shocking Return?
If there’s one thing WWE loves to do, it’s surprise the fans. Rumors have been swirling that a major superstar could make their return on this episode of SmackDown, and the possibilities are endless. Could we see the long-awaited comeback of Sasha Banks? Or perhaps the debut of a top NXT star like Carmelo Hayes or Roxanne Perez?
The WWE Universe loves a good surprise, and with WrestleMania season in full swing, the timing couldn’t be better. Keep your eyes peeled, because you never know who might show up.

Very good show
I think his Ic run being so long hurt him as a credible world champion. It’s like he fought all the same guys and crushed them for a mid card belt now we are supposed to believe they are an actual challenge to him as a world champion? Lol when they took the intercontinental title off of him they should have moved him to SmackDown and put a new list of challengers in front of him. And moved Cody and the WWE championship to raw
Very good episode,
imagine being deluded enough to think a multi billion dollar company with guys who literally have wrestling in their blood hot shoted a heel turn storyline because they booked themselves into a corner. are you serious dude? that is the most ridiculous thing i have read in a minute lol. good luck bro.
Great episode.
Punk/Cody was there for the taking and Cena could’ve gone up against Gunther.
They knee jerked a heel turn because they booked themselves into a nepotism corner
Very good show
honestly don’t get the hate. like sure, there’s no major story here YET. But Punk/Rollins/Reigns has a lot of potential to be a high quality match. I’m legit looking forward to it and love that these three have wound up in a match together.
Great episode.
The triple threat match between them at Wrestlemania is gonna be awesome. Super stoked for this match
Great show
Let’s mention the women’s match in every live/hate challenge. Easiest task for this group of “journalists” ever. Each one of these love/hates are more embarrassing than the last. We get it, women’s wrestling is amazing and should main event every show and if a women’s match is bad it’s because where it is on the card or the booking it’s never the talent, all the women are top tier wrestlers.
Very good show
You wanna find out who the real simps and shills are? Mark down anybody who defends that main event match! Even the diehard AEW fans are crapping on that main event. It was terrible.
This Moxley stuff is stinking out the entire show and the dude seems to think he is Brock Lesnar.
The sad part is that this wasn’t a terrible show overall and with all things taken into an account. But at the end of the day, a bad ending can ruin a whole show for a lot of people. “Game of Thrones season 8” style.
Great show
So the crux of it all is that the PLE started strong…then ended with a sour belch.
The fans most remember how you left them and the fans are going to remember this show with a resounding “bleh”!
And any casual fan who watched with their buddies who are more diehard fans, may have left the viewing saying aloud, “That guy was pretty good. He should go to WWE”.
Great show.
I’ve said before but I think one of the issues here is that Tony is a massive fan of NJPW and often looks to emulate their PPV card structure. NJPW cards typically build to a climax with the big matches back to back and tend not to feature cool down matches or spots. Problem is western audiences haven’t been conditioned for that over the last 40 years, so often results in burnout. Personally I would have laid out the card like below giving breathing spaces, opening with the Steel Cage match and building to the Hollywood Ending as the main event.
Storm vs. May
Mox vs. Cope
Hangman vs. MJF
Hurt Syndicate vs. Outrunners
Takeshita vs. Omega
Swerve vs. Ricochet
Okada vs. King
Mone vs. Watanabe
Ospreay vs. Fletcher
Great episode.
Very good show, but the ending is what people remember. WWE ended Elimination Chamber with a huge heel turn. AEW ended Revolution with that abominable ending.
it doesn’t totally undo a great show, but it might have done more harm than good.
Very good show
I can already see Trips the mark statues, Trips the mark with a 20 minutes speech, the camera focusing onTrips the mark every 30 seconds when he is on the crowd.
Great show.
I’m glad they are bringing it back to a nice venue. The idea of hosting it immediately after Smackdown is insane. Why not put a highlight show or broadcast the Hall of Fame instead of airing Smackdown that week.
best of the best
Very good show tonight
