Vice TV has mastered the art of suspense, and the promotional material for tonight’s episode is no exception. While they haven’t outright confirmed the subject, subtle clues have led to rampant speculation among wrestling historians and fans.
The Clues We’ve Been Given:
- A cryptic tweet from the official Dark Side of the Ring account featuring a shadowy figure with the caption: “Some secrets were never meant to be uncovered.”
- A brief snippet in the season trailer showing a blood-stained wrestling boot—an image that has sparked debates across forums.
- Insider reports suggesting this episode tackles a story from the territorial era, possibly involving a wrestler whose legacy has been whitewashed by time.
Possible Subjects Floating Around:
- The Von Erich Curse: A Deeper Look?
- The Von Erich tragedy was covered in an earlier season, but with new interviews and unearthed footage, could the producers be revisiting it with fresh revelations?
- The Mysterious Death of Gino Hernandez
- The charismatic “Handsome” Gino Hernandez’s sudden death in 1986 remains one of wrestling’s biggest unsolved mysteries. Was it an overdose? Foul play? Or something even darker?
- The Dark Legacy of Dr. D David Schultz
- Infamous for slapping 20/20 reporter John Stossel, Schultz’s post-wrestling life has been shrouded in controversy. Could this be an exposé on his later years?
- The Ultimate Warrior’s Polarizing Legacy
- Warrior’s posthumous WWE Hall of Fame induction sanitized his complicated history. But behind the face paint was a man with divisive views and backstage turmoil.
- A Shocking New Revelation About Chris Benoit
- While Benoit’s story was covered in-depth in Season 1, new witnesses or evidence may have emerged that could reshape the narrative.

3. Why This Episode Could Be the Most Explosive Yet
Every season of Dark Side of the Ring has delivered at least one episode that leaves fans speechless. Here’s why tonight’s installment might be that episode:
A. Never-Before-Seen Footage
Rumors suggest the production team has secured rare archival material—possibly unaired interviews or lost match footage that changes perceptions entirely.
B. New Witnesses Coming Forward
With time, more people are willing to talk. Could we hear from a previously silent key figure who’s ready to reveal the truth?
C. A Story That Challenges Wrestling’s Official Narrative
WWE and other promotions have often controlled their own histories. Dark Side has a track record of exposing what was hidden—tonight might be another bombshell.
4. Fan Theories & Predictions
The wrestling community is buzzing with guesses. Here’s what fans are saying:
- “It’s definitely Gino Hernandez. That boot in the trailer matches his style.” – @OldSchoolRasslin
- “What if it’s about the Plane Ride from Hell? They’ve never done an episode on that.” – @WrestleHotTakes
- “I bet it’s something completely unexpected, like the truth behind the Montreal Screwjob’s aftermath.” – @BretHartFan99
One thing’s for sure: No matter the subject, emotions will run high.
5. Final Thoughts: Why You Can’t Miss This
Dark Side of the Ring isn’t just a documentary series—it’s a cultural reckoning for professional wrestling. It forces us to confront the industry’s darkest corners while honoring the real people behind the characters.
Tonight’s episode could:
✅ Rewrite wrestling history

✅ Expose long-buried secrets
So set your reminders, prepare your reactions, and get ready. Because when the lights go down and that haunting theme music plays… the Dark Side awaits.

Very good show
I think his Ic run being so long hurt him as a credible world champion. It’s like he fought all the same guys and crushed them for a mid card belt now we are supposed to believe they are an actual challenge to him as a world champion? Lol when they took the intercontinental title off of him they should have moved him to SmackDown and put a new list of challengers in front of him. And moved Cody and the WWE championship to raw
Very good episode,
imagine being deluded enough to think a multi billion dollar company with guys who literally have wrestling in their blood hot shoted a heel turn storyline because they booked themselves into a corner. are you serious dude? that is the most ridiculous thing i have read in a minute lol. good luck bro.
Great episode.
Punk/Cody was there for the taking and Cena could’ve gone up against Gunther.
They knee jerked a heel turn because they booked themselves into a nepotism corner
Very good show
honestly don’t get the hate. like sure, there’s no major story here YET. But Punk/Rollins/Reigns has a lot of potential to be a high quality match. I’m legit looking forward to it and love that these three have wound up in a match together.
Great episode.
The triple threat match between them at Wrestlemania is gonna be awesome. Super stoked for this match
Great show
Let’s mention the women’s match in every live/hate challenge. Easiest task for this group of “journalists” ever. Each one of these love/hates are more embarrassing than the last. We get it, women’s wrestling is amazing and should main event every show and if a women’s match is bad it’s because where it is on the card or the booking it’s never the talent, all the women are top tier wrestlers.
Very good show
You wanna find out who the real simps and shills are? Mark down anybody who defends that main event match! Even the diehard AEW fans are crapping on that main event. It was terrible.
This Moxley stuff is stinking out the entire show and the dude seems to think he is Brock Lesnar.
The sad part is that this wasn’t a terrible show overall and with all things taken into an account. But at the end of the day, a bad ending can ruin a whole show for a lot of people. “Game of Thrones season 8” style.
Great show
So the crux of it all is that the PLE started strong…then ended with a sour belch.
The fans most remember how you left them and the fans are going to remember this show with a resounding “bleh”!
And any casual fan who watched with their buddies who are more diehard fans, may have left the viewing saying aloud, “That guy was pretty good. He should go to WWE”.
Great show.
I’ve said before but I think one of the issues here is that Tony is a massive fan of NJPW and often looks to emulate their PPV card structure. NJPW cards typically build to a climax with the big matches back to back and tend not to feature cool down matches or spots. Problem is western audiences haven’t been conditioned for that over the last 40 years, so often results in burnout. Personally I would have laid out the card like below giving breathing spaces, opening with the Steel Cage match and building to the Hollywood Ending as the main event.
Storm vs. May
Mox vs. Cope
Hangman vs. MJF
Hurt Syndicate vs. Outrunners
Takeshita vs. Omega
Swerve vs. Ricochet
Okada vs. King
Mone vs. Watanabe
Ospreay vs. Fletcher
Great episode.
Very good show, but the ending is what people remember. WWE ended Elimination Chamber with a huge heel turn. AEW ended Revolution with that abominable ending.
it doesn’t totally undo a great show, but it might have done more harm than good.
Very good show
I can already see Trips the mark statues, Trips the mark with a 20 minutes speech, the camera focusing onTrips the mark every 30 seconds when he is on the crowd.
Great show.
I’m glad they are bringing it back to a nice venue. The idea of hosting it immediately after Smackdown is insane. Why not put a highlight show or broadcast the Hall of Fame instead of airing Smackdown that week.
best of the best
Very good show tonight
