Dark Side of the Ring S6E9 Live Premiere Preview: The Most Shocking Episode Yet?
May 20, 2025
The wait is almost over. Vice TV’s Dark Side of the Ring returns with what might be its most explosive episode yet. Season 6, Episode 9 premieres tonight, May 20, 2025, and if the rumors are true, this installment could shake the wrestling world to its core.
For years, Dark Side of the Ring has peeled back the curtain on wrestling’s most controversial, tragic, and untold stories. From the twisted tale of Chris Benoit to the mysterious death of Bruiser Brody, the series has never shied away from the industry’s darkest corners. But tonight’s episode? This one feels different.
So what can we expect from S6E9? Who—or what—is the focus this time? And why are insiders calling this the most shocking episode in the show’s history?
Let’s dive deep into the preview, the rumors, and the potential bombshells awaiting us tonight.
What We Know About Dark Side of the Ring S6E9
While Vice TV has kept details tightly under wraps, a few key pieces of information have leaked ahead of tonight’s premiere.
1. The Episode’s Mysterious Title: “The Phantom of the Ring”
The title alone has sparked wild speculation. Is this about an unsolved wrestling mystery? A long-buried scandal? Or perhaps a wrestler whose legacy was erased from history?
Some fans believe this could explore:
- The alleged backstage “ghost stories” of wrestlers who died in the ring (like Owen Hart or Perro Aguayo Jr.)
- A deep dive into a wrestler whose career was destroyed by controversy (possibly Santo, the masked legend whose real-life scandals were hidden for decades)
- The untold story of a forgotten wrestler whose disappearance was never solved
2. The Teaser Trailer Hints at Betrayal & Conspiracy
The brief preview clip shows:
- Grainy footage of an old wrestling match (likely from the ‘80s or ‘90s)
- A shadowy figure backstage (face blurred)
- A voiceover saying, “Some secrets were never meant to come out.”
This has led to theories that the episode could expose:
- A major wrestling promoter’s involvement in a cover-up
- A wrestler who was forced into retirement under mysterious circumstances
- A real-life crime linked to the wrestling business
3. Insiders Are Calling It “The Most Disturbing Episode Ever”
Several wrestling journalists and former wrestlers who’ve seen early screenings have warned fans to brace themselves.
- “This episode changes everything.” – Wrestling Observer’s Bryan Alvarez
- “I’ve never seen anything like this… it’s going to divide fans.” – Former WCW writer Vince Russo
- “Some people in the industry don’t want this story told.” – Journalist Dave Meltzer
If these reactions are any indication, tonight’s episode could expose a story so dark that it reshapes how we view wrestling history.
Top Theories: What (Or Who) Is the Episode About?
Since Vice TV loves keeping fans guessing, let’s break down the most compelling theories.
Theory 1: The Unsolved Murder of a Wrestler
Rumors have swirled for years about certain wrestlers whose deaths were never properly investigated. Could this episode reveal new evidence in a cold case?
Possible subjects:
- Gino Hernandez (The charismatic heel whose 1986 death was ruled a drug overdose, but many believe was foul play)
- Dino Bravo (The Canadian strongman murdered in 1993, with alleged mob ties)
- Magnum T.A. (His career-ending car crash was deemed an accident, but some suspect sabotage)
Theory 2: The Dark Legacy of a Wrestling Family
Wrestling dynasties like the Harts, Von Erichs, and Guerreros have faced immense tragedy. But one family’s story remains largely untold—the original wrestling mafia family.
Could this be about:
- The mysterious Anoa’i family secrets?
- The truth behind the Graham family’s downfall?
- A wrestling dynasty with ties to organized crime?
Theory 3: A Wrestler Who Faked Their Own Death
Conspiracy theorists have long speculated that certain wrestlers may have staged their deaths to escape debts, legal trouble, or even the business itself.
Names floated include:
- The Ultimate Warrior (Some fans believe his sudden 2014 death was suspicious)
- Sensational Sherri (Her 2007 death was ruled an accidental fall, but rumors persist)
- A famous masked wrestler who vanished without a trace
Why This Episode Could Change Wrestling Forever
If Dark Side of the Ring uncovers proof of a major cover-up, an unsolved crime, or systemic corruption, the fallout could be massive.
- Will WWE or other promotions respond? (Past episodes have led to WWE removing controversial figures from their archives.)
- Could legal action follow? (If new evidence surfaces in a cold case, authorities may reopen investigations.)
- Will wrestlers break their silence? (This episode might inspire others to come forward with their own stories.)
Final Thoughts: Don’t Miss This Premiere
One thing’s for sure: Tonight’s episode will be unforgettable. Whether it’s a shocking true crime revelation, a heartbreaking tragedy, or a conspiracy finally exposed, Dark Side of the Ring continues to prove why it’s the most important documentary series in wrestling.
Tune in TONIGHT (May 20, 2025) at 9 PM EST on Vice TV.
And when the credits roll? The wrestling world may never be the same.

Very good show
I think his Ic run being so long hurt him as a credible world champion. It’s like he fought all the same guys and crushed them for a mid card belt now we are supposed to believe they are an actual challenge to him as a world champion? Lol when they took the intercontinental title off of him they should have moved him to SmackDown and put a new list of challengers in front of him. And moved Cody and the WWE championship to raw
Very good episode,
imagine being deluded enough to think a multi billion dollar company with guys who literally have wrestling in their blood hot shoted a heel turn storyline because they booked themselves into a corner. are you serious dude? that is the most ridiculous thing i have read in a minute lol. good luck bro.
Great episode.
Punk/Cody was there for the taking and Cena could’ve gone up against Gunther.
They knee jerked a heel turn because they booked themselves into a nepotism corner
Very good show
honestly don’t get the hate. like sure, there’s no major story here YET. But Punk/Rollins/Reigns has a lot of potential to be a high quality match. I’m legit looking forward to it and love that these three have wound up in a match together.
Great episode.
The triple threat match between them at Wrestlemania is gonna be awesome. Super stoked for this match
Great show
Let’s mention the women’s match in every live/hate challenge. Easiest task for this group of “journalists” ever. Each one of these love/hates are more embarrassing than the last. We get it, women’s wrestling is amazing and should main event every show and if a women’s match is bad it’s because where it is on the card or the booking it’s never the talent, all the women are top tier wrestlers.
Very good show
You wanna find out who the real simps and shills are? Mark down anybody who defends that main event match! Even the diehard AEW fans are crapping on that main event. It was terrible.
This Moxley stuff is stinking out the entire show and the dude seems to think he is Brock Lesnar.
The sad part is that this wasn’t a terrible show overall and with all things taken into an account. But at the end of the day, a bad ending can ruin a whole show for a lot of people. “Game of Thrones season 8” style.
Great show
So the crux of it all is that the PLE started strong…then ended with a sour belch.
The fans most remember how you left them and the fans are going to remember this show with a resounding “bleh”!
And any casual fan who watched with their buddies who are more diehard fans, may have left the viewing saying aloud, “That guy was pretty good. He should go to WWE”.
Great show.
I’ve said before but I think one of the issues here is that Tony is a massive fan of NJPW and often looks to emulate their PPV card structure. NJPW cards typically build to a climax with the big matches back to back and tend not to feature cool down matches or spots. Problem is western audiences haven’t been conditioned for that over the last 40 years, so often results in burnout. Personally I would have laid out the card like below giving breathing spaces, opening with the Steel Cage match and building to the Hollywood Ending as the main event.
Storm vs. May
Mox vs. Cope
Hangman vs. MJF
Hurt Syndicate vs. Outrunners
Takeshita vs. Omega
Swerve vs. Ricochet
Okada vs. King
Mone vs. Watanabe
Ospreay vs. Fletcher
Great episode.
Very good show, but the ending is what people remember. WWE ended Elimination Chamber with a huge heel turn. AEW ended Revolution with that abominable ending.
it doesn’t totally undo a great show, but it might have done more harm than good.
Very good show
I can already see Trips the mark statues, Trips the mark with a 20 minutes speech, the camera focusing onTrips the mark every 30 seconds when he is on the crowd.
Great show.
I’m glad they are bringing it back to a nice venue. The idea of hosting it immediately after Smackdown is insane. Why not put a highlight show or broadcast the Hall of Fame instead of airing Smackdown that week.
best of the best
Very good show tonight
