AEW Dynamite Live 4/30/25: The Ultimate Preview – What to Expect from an Explosive Night of Action
By [Watch Wrestling], AEW Insider & Pro Wrestling Analyst
April 30, 2025 – The countdown is on for another electrifying edition of AEW Dynamite, and if the rumors, teases, and recent developments are any indication, this could be one of the most explosive episodes of the year. With AEW Double or Nothing 2025 just around the corner, every match, promo, and surprise on this show will have major implications for the future of All Elite Wrestling.
From world title ramifications to blood feuds reaching their boiling point, and potential shocking debuts, this episode of Dynamite is must-see TV. So, let’s break it all down—match by match, segment by segment—and preview what promises to be an unforgettable night of professional wrestling.
🔥 Main Event Preview: AEW World Championship Eliminator Match
“Hangman” Adam Page vs. Swerve Strickland
The rivalry between “Hangman” Adam Page and Swerve Strickland has been one of the most intense in recent AEW history. After Swerve cost Hangman a shot at the AEW World Title last month, the former champion is out for revenge. But this isn’t just about settling scores—the winner of this match will become the #1 Contender for the AEW World Championship at Double or Nothing.
- Swerve’s Mind Games: Swerve has been playing psychological warfare, bringing up Hangman’s past failures and even targeting his family in recent promos. Will Hangman keep his cool, or will Swerve’s mind games lead to another heartbreaking loss for the Cowboy?
- High-Stakes Action: Both men are known for their high-risk, high-reward styles. Expect suicide dives, brutal strikes, and possibly a Deadeye through a table before this one is over.
- Outside Interference?: With Prince Nana and the Mogul Embassy always lurking, will this match end cleanly, or will we see another swerve (pun intended) in the closing moments?
Prediction: Hangman gets the win, but Swerve attacks him after the bell, setting up a brutal rematch at Double or Nothing.
💀 Grudge Match: “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes Returns to AEW!
Cody Rhodes vs. Malakai Black (No Disqualification)
In a shocking twist, Cody Rhodes has returned to AEW after years away—and he’s coming straight for Malakai Black, the man who once “ended” his career. The history between these two is deep, with Black’s black mist and psychological torment driving Cody away. Now, the American Nightmare is back for vengeance.
- No DQ Stipulation: This means chairs, kendo sticks, and possibly even thumbtacks will be in play. Given Black’s hard-hitting style and Cody’s newfound aggression, this will be a brutal, violent affair.
- The House of Black’s Influence: Will Brody King, Buddy Matthews, or Julia Hart get involved? Or will Cody have backup of his own?
- Is This Cody’s Last Stand?: If Cody loses, will he be forced to leave AEW again? Or will he finally conquer his demon?
Prediction: Cody wins after a grueling, bloody battle, but the House of Black attacks him post-match, setting up a future trios war.
🏆 AEW Women’s World Title Eliminator
Thunder Rosa vs. Jamie Hayter
The AEW Women’s division is heating up, and the winner of this match will challenge Toni Storm for the AEW Women’s World Championship at Double or Nothing.
- Thunder Rosa’s Redemption: After a long absence due to injury, Rosa is back and hungrier than ever. Can she reclaim her spot at the top?
- Jamie Hayter’s Dominance: Hayter has been on a tear since returning, and with Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. in her corner, she has every advantage.
- Outside Chaos: Will Baker interfere? Will Storm make an appearance to scout her future opponent?
Prediction: Jamie Hayter wins after Britt Baker distracts Rosa, leading to a brutal lariat for the pin.
🚀 Tag Team Turmoil: The Young Bucks vs. FTR
The greatest tag team rivalry in modern wrestling reignites as The Young Bucks and FTR go head-to-head once again. With both teams claiming to be the best in the world, this match could steal the show.
- High-Flying vs. Ground-and-Pound: The Bucks’ superkicks and flips vs. FTR’s old-school brutality—who comes out on top?
- Will There Be a Cash-In?: With the AEW Tag Team Titles currently held by Sting & Darby Allin, could the winners challenge them next?
- Betrayal in the Air?: Rumors suggest one member of FTR might turn on the other—could we see a shocking heel turn?
Prediction: The Young Bucks win after a BTE Trigger, but FTR attacks them after the match, signaling a long-term feud revival.
💥 The MJF Mystery: Who Will Answer His Open Challenge?
MJF has been teasing an open challenge for weeks, claiming that no one in AEW is on his level. But who will step up?
- Possible Challengers:
- Wardlow (seeking revenge for past betrayals)
- Samoa Joe (looking to reclaim gold)
- A Surprise Debut (Could it be CM Punk? Okada? A returning PAC?)
- MJF’s Mind Games: Whoever answers, MJF will try to get in their head before the bell even rings.
- Is This a Double or Nothing Preview?
Prediction: Wardlow returns, destroys MJF, and stands tall to close the show.
🎤 Promo Segments & Backstage Drama
- Christian Cage & Killswitch: Will the TNT Champion continue his reign of terror?
- Orange Cassidy & Best Friends: What’s next for the former International Champ?
- Darby Allin & Sting: Will they address their tag title reign?

Very good show
I think his Ic run being so long hurt him as a credible world champion. It’s like he fought all the same guys and crushed them for a mid card belt now we are supposed to believe they are an actual challenge to him as a world champion? Lol when they took the intercontinental title off of him they should have moved him to SmackDown and put a new list of challengers in front of him. And moved Cody and the WWE championship to raw
Very good episode,
imagine being deluded enough to think a multi billion dollar company with guys who literally have wrestling in their blood hot shoted a heel turn storyline because they booked themselves into a corner. are you serious dude? that is the most ridiculous thing i have read in a minute lol. good luck bro.
Great episode.
Punk/Cody was there for the taking and Cena could’ve gone up against Gunther.
They knee jerked a heel turn because they booked themselves into a nepotism corner
Very good show
honestly don’t get the hate. like sure, there’s no major story here YET. But Punk/Rollins/Reigns has a lot of potential to be a high quality match. I’m legit looking forward to it and love that these three have wound up in a match together.
Great episode.
The triple threat match between them at Wrestlemania is gonna be awesome. Super stoked for this match
Great show
Let’s mention the women’s match in every live/hate challenge. Easiest task for this group of “journalists” ever. Each one of these love/hates are more embarrassing than the last. We get it, women’s wrestling is amazing and should main event every show and if a women’s match is bad it’s because where it is on the card or the booking it’s never the talent, all the women are top tier wrestlers.
Very good show
You wanna find out who the real simps and shills are? Mark down anybody who defends that main event match! Even the diehard AEW fans are crapping on that main event. It was terrible.
This Moxley stuff is stinking out the entire show and the dude seems to think he is Brock Lesnar.
The sad part is that this wasn’t a terrible show overall and with all things taken into an account. But at the end of the day, a bad ending can ruin a whole show for a lot of people. “Game of Thrones season 8” style.
Great show
So the crux of it all is that the PLE started strong…then ended with a sour belch.
The fans most remember how you left them and the fans are going to remember this show with a resounding “bleh”!
And any casual fan who watched with their buddies who are more diehard fans, may have left the viewing saying aloud, “That guy was pretty good. He should go to WWE”.
Great show.
I’ve said before but I think one of the issues here is that Tony is a massive fan of NJPW and often looks to emulate their PPV card structure. NJPW cards typically build to a climax with the big matches back to back and tend not to feature cool down matches or spots. Problem is western audiences haven’t been conditioned for that over the last 40 years, so often results in burnout. Personally I would have laid out the card like below giving breathing spaces, opening with the Steel Cage match and building to the Hollywood Ending as the main event.
Storm vs. May
Mox vs. Cope
Hangman vs. MJF
Hurt Syndicate vs. Outrunners
Takeshita vs. Omega
Swerve vs. Ricochet
Okada vs. King
Mone vs. Watanabe
Ospreay vs. Fletcher
Great episode.
Very good show, but the ending is what people remember. WWE ended Elimination Chamber with a huge heel turn. AEW ended Revolution with that abominable ending.
it doesn’t totally undo a great show, but it might have done more harm than good.
Very good show
I can already see Trips the mark statues, Trips the mark with a 20 minutes speech, the camera focusing onTrips the mark every 30 seconds when he is on the crowd.
Great show.
I’m glad they are bringing it back to a nice venue. The idea of hosting it immediately after Smackdown is insane. Why not put a highlight show or broadcast the Hall of Fame instead of airing Smackdown that week.
best of the best
Very good show tonight
