WWE SmackDown Live 3/21/25: A Night of High Stakes, Explosive Action, and Unforgettable Moments

The WWE Universe, brace yourselves! March 21, 2025, is not just another Friday night—it’s the night when WWE SmackDown Live returns to your screens with a blockbuster episode that promises to deliver jaw-dropping moments, intense rivalries, and the kind of drama only WWE can provide. As the Road to WrestleMania 41 heats up, this edition of SmackDown is poised to be a pivotal chapter in the stories that will define the Grandest Stage of Them All.

From championship showdowns to personal vendettas, the stakes have never been higher. So, grab your snacks, settle into your favorite spot on the couch, and let’s dive into everything you need to know about WWE SmackDown Live on March 21, 2025.

The Road to WrestleMania: SmackDown’s Crucial Role

With WrestleMania 41 just weeks away, every episode of SmackDown is a must-watch, and this one is no exception. The blue brand has been the center of some of the most compelling storylines in WWE, and the March 21 episode is set to escalate tensions to a boiling point.

The show will feature championship matches, contract signings, and surprise returns that will leave the WWE Universe buzzing. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or a newcomer to the world of WWE, this episode is guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat.

Main Event Preview: Universal Championship Contract Signing

The main event of the evening will see the Universal Champion, Roman Reigns, and his challenger, Cody Rhodes, come face-to-face for a contract signing. This highly anticipated segment is expected to be anything but civil.

Roman Reigns, the undisputed Tribal Chief, has held the Universal Championship for over four years, and his dominance has been nothing short of historic. However, Cody Rhodes, the American Nightmare, has been on a relentless quest to “finish the story” and claim the title that has eluded him for so long.

The tension between these two superstars has been building for months, and with WrestleMania on the horizon, this contract signing could very well turn into an all-out brawl. Will Cody finally get the upper hand, or will Roman Reigns remind everyone why he’s the Head of the Table?

Women’s Division Showdown: Bianca Belair vs. Rhea Ripley

The women’s division on SmackDown has been nothing short of spectacular, and this episode will feature a dream match between Bianca Belair and Rhea Ripley. Both superstars are at the top of their game, and this clash is sure to be a show-stealer.

Bianca Belair, the EST of WWE, has been a dominant force since her debut, and her athleticism and charisma have made her a fan favorite. On the other hand, Rhea Ripley, the Eradicator, brings a unique blend of power and intensity that has made her one of the most feared competitors in the division.

This match is more than just a battle for bragging rights—it’s a statement of intent as both women look to solidify their spot at WrestleMania. Will Bianca’s speed and agility be enough to overcome Rhea’s brute strength, or will the Nightmare reign supreme?

Tag Team Turmoil: The Usos vs. The Street Profits

The tag team division on SmackDown has been heating up, and this episode will feature a high-stakes match between The Usos and The Street Profits. Both teams are known for their incredible chemistry and high-flying maneuvers, making this a must-watch encounter.

The Usos, Jimmy and Jey, have been the standard-bearers of the tag team division for years, and their experience and teamwork are second to none. However, The Street Profits, Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins, have been on a mission to prove that they are the future of the division.

With both teams vying for a shot at the Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania, this match is sure to be a hard-hitting, fast-paced affair. Will The Usos continue their dominance, or will The Street Profits rise to the occasion?

Intercontinental Championship Match: Gunther vs. Sami Zayn

The Intercontinental Championship will be on the line as Gunther defends his title against Sami Zayn. Gunther, the Ring General, has been an unstoppable force since capturing the title, and his matches are a masterclass in technical wrestling.

However, Sami Zayn is no stranger to overcoming the odds. The Underdog from the Underground has been on a roll lately, and his unique blend of technical skill and unorthodox tactics could be the key to dethroning Gunther.

This match is a clash of styles, and it’s anyone’s guess who will walk out with the Intercontinental Championship. Will Gunther’s dominance continue, or will Sami Zayn pull off the upset of the year?

Surprise Returns and Shocking Twists

If there’s one thing WWE is known for, it’s delivering surprises, and this episode of SmackDown is expected to be no different. Rumors have been swirling about potential returns and shocking twists that could change the landscape of WWE heading into WrestleMania.

Could we see the return of a legendary superstar? Will a new alliance be formed, or will a betrayal shake the foundation of SmackDown? One thing is for sure—you won’t want to miss a single moment of the action.

Very good show

March 11, 2025

I think his Ic run being so long hurt him as a credible world champion. It’s like he fought all the same guys and crushed them for a mid card belt now we are supposed to believe they are an actual challenge to him as a world champion? Lol when they took the intercontinental title off of him they should have moved him to SmackDown and put a new list of challengers in front of him. And moved Cody and the WWE championship to raw

Ezra

Very good episode,

March 11, 2025

imagine being deluded enough to think a multi billion dollar company with guys who literally have wrestling in their blood hot shoted a heel turn storyline because they booked themselves into a corner. are you serious dude? that is the most ridiculous thing i have read in a minute lol. good luck bro.

Rowan

Great episode.

March 11, 2025

Punk/Cody was there for the taking and Cena could’ve gone up against Gunther.

They knee jerked a heel turn because they booked themselves into a nepotism corner

Hudson

Very good show

March 11, 2025

honestly don’t get the hate. like sure, there’s no major story here YET. But Punk/Rollins/Reigns has a lot of potential to be a high quality match. I’m legit looking forward to it and love that these three have wound up in a match together.

Willie

Great episode.

March 11, 2025

The triple threat match between them at Wrestlemania is gonna be awesome. Super stoked for this match

Gary

Great show

March 10, 2025

Let’s mention the women’s match in every live/hate challenge. Easiest task for this group of “journalists” ever. Each one of these love/hates are more embarrassing than the last. We get it, women’s wrestling is amazing and should main event every show and if a women’s match is bad it’s because where it is on the card or the booking it’s never the talent, all the women are top tier wrestlers.

Gerald

Very good show

March 10, 2025

You wanna find out who the real simps and shills are? Mark down anybody who defends that main event match! Even the diehard AEW fans are crapping on that main event. It was terrible.

This Moxley stuff is stinking out the entire show and the dude seems to think he is Brock Lesnar.

The sad part is that this wasn’t a terrible show overall and with all things taken into an account. But at the end of the day, a bad ending can ruin a whole show for a lot of people. “Game of Thrones season 8” style.

Frank

Great show

March 10, 2025

So the crux of it all is that the PLE started strong…then ended with a sour belch.

The fans most remember how you left them and the fans are going to remember this show with a resounding “bleh”!

And any casual fan who watched with their buddies who are more diehard fans, may have left the viewing saying aloud, “That guy was pretty good. He should go to WWE”.

Evelyn

Great show.

March 10, 2025

I’ve said before but I think one of the issues here is that Tony is a massive fan of NJPW and often looks to emulate their PPV card structure. NJPW cards typically build to a climax with the big matches back to back and tend not to feature cool down matches or spots. Problem is western audiences haven’t been conditioned for that over the last 40 years, so often results in burnout. Personally I would have laid out the card like below giving breathing spaces, opening with the Steel Cage match and building to the Hollywood Ending as the main event.

Storm vs. May

Mox vs. Cope

Hangman vs. MJF

Hurt Syndicate vs. Outrunners

Takeshita vs. Omega

Swerve vs. Ricochet

Okada vs. King

Mone vs. Watanabe

Ospreay vs. Fletcher

Willie

Great episode.

March 10, 2025

Very good show, but the ending is what people remember. WWE ended Elimination Chamber with a huge heel turn. AEW ended Revolution with that abominable ending.

it doesn’t totally undo a great show, but it might have done more harm than good.

Christian

Very good show

March 10, 2025

I can already see Trips the mark statues, Trips the mark with a 20 minutes speech, the camera focusing onTrips the mark every 30 seconds when he is on the crowd.

Oliver

Great show.

March 10, 2025

I’m glad they are bringing it back to a nice venue. The idea of hosting it immediately after Smackdown is insane. Why not put a highlight show or broadcast the Hall of Fame instead of airing Smackdown that week.
