WWE’s Greatest Moments Live: A Night of Legends, Surprises, and Unforgettable Action – February 16, 2025
The WWE Universe has always been synonymous with larger-than-life spectacles, jaw-dropping moments, and storytelling that transcends the boundaries of sports entertainment. On February 16, 2025, WWE delivered yet another historic night with Greatest Moments Live, a special event that celebrated the past, present, and future of the industry. Broadcast live online, this event was a love letter to the fans, a showcase of the company’s rich history, and a glimpse into the future of sports entertainment. From shocking returns to emotional tributes and show-stealing matches, this night will forever be etched in the annals of WWE history.
Let’s dive deep into the results, the moments, and the magic that made Greatest Moments Live an unforgettable experience.
The Stage Was Set: A Celebration of Legacy
From the moment the show opened, it was clear that this wasn’t just another WWE event. The stage design was a breathtaking homage to WWE’s storied past, featuring iconic imagery from the Golden Era, the Attitude Era, the Ruthless Aggression Era, and the modern-day WWE. The TitanTron displayed a montage of legendary moments: Hulk Hogan body-slamming Andre the Giant, The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin’s epic clashes, Shawn Michaels’ WrestleMania performances, and the rise of modern-day icons like Roman Reigns and Bianca Belair.
The event kicked off with a heartfelt video package narrated by none other than WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker. His haunting voice set the tone for the night, reminding fans that WWE’s greatest moments are not just about championships or victories, but about the emotions, the stories, and the connections that transcend time.
Match 1: The New Generation vs. The Attitude Era – 8-Man Tag Team Match
Team Cena (John Cena, Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes, and LA Knight) vs. Team Austin (Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Triple H, and Randy Orton)
The night started with a bang as WWE brought together two of its most iconic eras for an 8-man tag team match. The crowd erupted as the legends of the Attitude Era—Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Triple H, and Randy Orton—made their way to the ring. The energy was electric, and the nostalgia was palpable. But they weren’t alone. Representing the New Generation were John Cena, Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes, and LA Knight, all of whom have carried the torch for WWE in recent years.
The match was a masterclass in storytelling. The Rock and John Cena reignited their rivalry with a series of signature moves that had the crowd on their feet. Stone Cold delivered stunners to everyone in sight, and Triple H and Seth Rollins had a mentor vs. protégé showdown that was nothing short of poetic. The finish came when Cody Rhodes hit a Cross Rhodes on Randy Orton, followed by a People’s Elbow from The Rock and a final stunner from Stone Cold to LA Knight. Team Austin emerged victorious, but the real winners were the fans who witnessed this dream match come to life.
Segment 1: A Tribute to the Fallen Legends
In one of the most emotional moments of the night, WWE paid tribute to the legends who are no longer with us. A video package highlighted the careers of Eddie Guerrero, Bray Wyatt, Owen Hart, and others who left an indelible mark on the industry. The segment concluded with a 10-bell salute, as the entire roster stood on the stage in a show of respect. The silence in the arena was deafening, a reminder of the impact these legends had on the world of wrestling.
Match 2: Women’s Evolution Showcase – Fatal 4-Way Match
Charlotte Flair vs. Becky Lynch vs. Bayley vs. Rhea Ripley
The Women’s Evolution has been one of WWE’s most significant achievements, and this match was a testament to how far the division has come. Four of the greatest female competitors in WWE history—Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Bayley, and Rhea Ripley—battled in a Fatal 4-Way match that was nothing short of spectacular.
The chemistry between these women was undeniable. Charlotte’s athleticism, Becky’s technical prowess, Bayley’s unpredictability, and Rhea’s raw power created a perfect storm of action. The near-falls had the audience on the edge of their seats, and the finish was a thing of beauty. After a devastating Riptide on Bayley, Rhea Ripley pinned her to secure the victory. However, the real story was the mutual respect shown by all four competitors after the match, as they embraced in the center of the ring.
Segment 2: The Return of CM Punk
Just when the crowd thought they had seen it all, the familiar chords of Cult of Personality hit the speakers. The arena erupted as CM Punk made his shocking return to WWE. Punk, who had been absent from the company for over a decade, walked to the ring with a microphone in hand and a fire in his eyes.
“It’s clobberin’ time,” he declared, sending the crowd into a frenzy. Punk cut a passionate promo about his journey, his love for the business, and his desire to give back to the fans who never stopped believing in him. He ended his speech by challenging the current WWE Champion to a match at WrestleMania 41, setting the stage for what promises to be one of the most anticipated rivalries in recent memory.
Match 3: The Dream Match – Undisputed WWE Universal Championship
Roman Reigns (c) vs. Gunther
The main event of the evening was a clash of titans as Roman Reigns defended his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against the Intercontinental Champion, Gunther. This was a match that fans had been clamoring for, and it did not disappoint.
Roman, accompanied by Paul Heyman and The Bloodline, entered the ring with the confidence of a man who has dominated WWE for years. Gunther, on the other hand, was a force of nature, his imposing presence and brutal chops leaving the crowd in awe. The match was a hard-hitting, physical battle that showcased the best of both men. Roman’s spears were countered by Gunther’s powerbombs, and the near-falls had the audience holding their breath.
In the end, it was Roman Reigns who emerged victorious after a thunderous spear, but Gunther earned the respect of the WWE Universe with his incredible performance. After the match, Roman extended his hand to Gunther, a rare show of respect from The Tribal Chief. Gunther accepted, but the look in his eyes made it clear that this rivalry was far from over.
Segment 3: The Future is Now – Bron Breakker and Roxanne Perez Shine
In a backstage segment, WWE showcased its next generation of superstars. Bron Breakker and Roxanne Perez cut a promo about their journey through NXT and their readiness to take over the main roster. The segment ended with a surprise appearance by Shawn Michaels, who praised the young stars and declared that the future of WWE was in good hands.
Closing Moments: A Night to Remember
As the event came to a close, the entire roster stood on the stage, united in celebration of WWE’s greatest moments. The fireworks lit up the arena, and the fans chanted “Thank you, WWE!” in unison. It was a fitting end to a night that celebrated the past, honored the present, and looked forward to the future.
Greatest Moments Live was more than just a wrestling event; it was a celebration of everything that makes WWE special. From the legends who paved the way to the superstars who carry the torch today, this night was a reminder of why we love sports entertainment. February 16, 2025, will forever be remembered as a night when WWE delivered its greatest moments—live.

WWE’s Greatest Moments Live was a masterclass in storytelling, nostalgia, and in-ring action. It was a night that reminded us why we fell in love with wrestling in the first place. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or a newcomer to the WWE Universe, this event had something for everyone. As we look ahead to WrestleMania 41 and beyond, one thing is clear: the greatest moments in WWE history are still being written.

Very good show
I think his Ic run being so long hurt him as a credible world champion. It’s like he fought all the same guys and crushed them for a mid card belt now we are supposed to believe they are an actual challenge to him as a world champion? Lol when they took the intercontinental title off of him they should have moved him to SmackDown and put a new list of challengers in front of him. And moved Cody and the WWE championship to raw
Very good episode,
imagine being deluded enough to think a multi billion dollar company with guys who literally have wrestling in their blood hot shoted a heel turn storyline because they booked themselves into a corner. are you serious dude? that is the most ridiculous thing i have read in a minute lol. good luck bro.
Great episode.
Punk/Cody was there for the taking and Cena could’ve gone up against Gunther.
They knee jerked a heel turn because they booked themselves into a nepotism corner
Very good show
honestly don’t get the hate. like sure, there’s no major story here YET. But Punk/Rollins/Reigns has a lot of potential to be a high quality match. I’m legit looking forward to it and love that these three have wound up in a match together.
Great episode.
The triple threat match between them at Wrestlemania is gonna be awesome. Super stoked for this match
Great show
Let’s mention the women’s match in every live/hate challenge. Easiest task for this group of “journalists” ever. Each one of these love/hates are more embarrassing than the last. We get it, women’s wrestling is amazing and should main event every show and if a women’s match is bad it’s because where it is on the card or the booking it’s never the talent, all the women are top tier wrestlers.
Very good show
You wanna find out who the real simps and shills are? Mark down anybody who defends that main event match! Even the diehard AEW fans are crapping on that main event. It was terrible.
This Moxley stuff is stinking out the entire show and the dude seems to think he is Brock Lesnar.
The sad part is that this wasn’t a terrible show overall and with all things taken into an account. But at the end of the day, a bad ending can ruin a whole show for a lot of people. “Game of Thrones season 8” style.
Great show
So the crux of it all is that the PLE started strong…then ended with a sour belch.
The fans most remember how you left them and the fans are going to remember this show with a resounding “bleh”!
And any casual fan who watched with their buddies who are more diehard fans, may have left the viewing saying aloud, “That guy was pretty good. He should go to WWE”.
Great show.
I’ve said before but I think one of the issues here is that Tony is a massive fan of NJPW and often looks to emulate their PPV card structure. NJPW cards typically build to a climax with the big matches back to back and tend not to feature cool down matches or spots. Problem is western audiences haven’t been conditioned for that over the last 40 years, so often results in burnout. Personally I would have laid out the card like below giving breathing spaces, opening with the Steel Cage match and building to the Hollywood Ending as the main event.
Storm vs. May
Mox vs. Cope
Hangman vs. MJF
Hurt Syndicate vs. Outrunners
Takeshita vs. Omega
Swerve vs. Ricochet
Okada vs. King
Mone vs. Watanabe
Ospreay vs. Fletcher
Great episode.
Very good show, but the ending is what people remember. WWE ended Elimination Chamber with a huge heel turn. AEW ended Revolution with that abominable ending.
it doesn’t totally undo a great show, but it might have done more harm than good.
Very good show
I can already see Trips the mark statues, Trips the mark with a 20 minutes speech, the camera focusing onTrips the mark every 30 seconds when he is on the crowd.
Great show.
I’m glad they are bringing it back to a nice venue. The idea of hosting it immediately after Smackdown is insane. Why not put a highlight show or broadcast the Hall of Fame instead of airing Smackdown that week.
best of the best
Very good show tonight
