Did You Enjoy AEW Rampage 7/28/23 28th July 2023
Rampage is still a vital show for AEW
Rampage is still a vital show for AEW. The ratings would likely be worse but I’m curious about Rampage as a Sunday night show in the vein of Heat that could also be live before AEW PPVs. It’s placement in the middle of two live shows has felt odd.
Kip sabian has the wildest career in AEW
Kip sabian has the wildest career in AEW. Dude spent over a year interacting with folks with a cardboard box on his head to return from injury to do absolutely nothing. I’m sure there were a bunch of folks thinking this was leading to something huge and it’s just him being a jobber again lol
Storm-Shida
I really wish they would wait until All In for Storm-Shida. Now that means Britt is probably going to be the challenger, which I don’t think anybody wants to see.
Myung-Jae Lee
I was there for Myung-Jae Lee
All Elite Wrestling (AEW) Rampage returned on Friday night with a stacked card that featured a battle royale to determine the next contenders for the AEW Tag Team titles, a rematch between former AEW Women’s Champions Hikaru Shida and Nyla Rose, and the return of The Kingdom to AEW.
The main event of the evening was the battle royale to determine the next contenders for the AEW Tag Team titles. The match featured 16 men representing eight teams, with the winners earning a shot at the titles against the winners of Saturday’s FTR vs. MJF & Adam Cole Tag Team title match on Collision.
The battle royale was a wild and chaotic affair, with plenty of near-eliminations and surprise entrants. In the end, it was Matt & Jeff Hardy who emerged victorious, eliminating The Butcher & The Blade to earn their title shot.
The other big match on the card was a rematch between Hikaru Shida and Nyla Rose. The two former AEW Women’s Champions had a classic match last year, and this one was just as good. Shida and Rose went back and forth, trading near-falls and reversals. In the end, it was Shida who got the win, pinning Rose with a Falcon Arrow.
The Kingdom also made their return to AEW on Friday night, facing off against Hayden Backlund & Myung-Jae Lee. The Kingdom, consisting of Matt Taven and Mike Bennett, are former Ring of Honor Tag Team Champions. They had a dominant performance, defeating Backlund & Lee in a matter of minutes.
In other action on Friday night, Komander replaced the injured Scorpio Sky in his match against Kip Sabian. Komander, a former AAA World Heavyweight Champion, made short work of Sabian, defeating him with a powerbomb.
Overall, AEW Rampage was a great show on Friday night. The battle royale was exciting, the rematch between Shida and Rose was classic, and The Kingdom made a statement with their dominant victory. If you missed the show, be sure to check it out on demand.
