In this exclusive preview, we’ll dive deep into the match card, analyze the storylines, and explore the stakes that make this event a must-watch. From jaw-dropping high-flying maneuvers to brutal brawls and shocking twists, WWE NXT Live on April 1st is poised to be a historic night. So, let’s get into the action!
The Stage is Set: What Makes NXT Special?
Before we break down the event, let’s take a moment to appreciate what makes NXT so unique. Since its inception, NXT has been the heartbeat of WWE’s future—a brand that blends raw athleticism, compelling storytelling, and an unrivaled passion for the craft. It’s where the next generation of superstars cut their teeth, where rivalries feel personal, and where every match has the potential to steal the show.
April 1st, 2025, is no exception. The NXT roster is stacked with talent, and the storylines leading into this event have been nothing short of captivating. From bitter feuds to unlikely alliances, the stage is set for a night that will leave fans talking for weeks to come.
Main Event Preview: NXT Championship on the Line
The main event of the evening will see the NXT Champion, Dante Cruz, defend his title against the relentless challenger, Killian Steele. Cruz, the high-flying phenom known for his innovative offense and fearless demeanor, has been on a tear since capturing the championship. His matches are a masterclass in athleticism, and his ability to adapt to any opponent has made him one of the most exciting champions in NXT history.
But standing in his way is Killian Steele, a powerhouse with a chip on his shoulder. Steele’s path to the title shot has been paved with destruction, as he’s bulldozed through the competition with his brute strength and unyielding determination. This clash of styles—Cruz’s speed and agility versus Steele’s raw power—promises to be a spectacle for the ages.
The stakes couldn’t be higher. For Cruz, it’s about proving he’s the undisputed face of NXT. For Steele, it’s about cementing his legacy as the most dominant force in the brand’s history. Who will walk out as champion? Tune in to find out.
NXT Women’s Championship: A Battle of Icons
The NXT Women’s Championship will also be on the line as Ava Storm defends her title against the returning Jade Vega. Storm, the self-proclaimed “Queen of NXT,” has been a dominant champion, using her technical prowess and ruthless tactics to outclass her opponents. But Vega, a former champion herself, is back with a vengeance.
Vega’s return to NXT has sent shockwaves through the division. Known for her high-risk maneuvers and never-say-die attitude, Vega is determined to reclaim the title she never lost. The tension between these two has been building for weeks, with personal jabs and physical altercations adding fuel to the fire.
This match isn’t just about the championship; it’s about pride, legacy, and proving who truly is the best in the world. Expect a hard-hitting, fast-paced encounter that will leave fans on the edge of their seats.
Tag Team Turmoil: NXT Tag Team Championships
The tag team division in NXT has never been hotter, and the NXT Tag Team Championships will be defended in a Fatal 4-Way match that promises chaos. The reigning champions, Velocity Rising (Jett Ryder and Max Velocity), will face off against three of the most formidable teams in NXT:
- The Iron Vanguard (Tank Mulligan and Viktor Kane): A powerhouse duo known for their brutal strength and unbreakable bond.
- The Skybound Syndicate (Zane Archer and Luca Vega): High-flying daredevils who thrive in high-stakes matches.
- The Outlaw Collective (Duke Harper and Colt Cassidy): A pair of renegades who play by their own rules.
With so many teams in the mix, this match is guaranteed to be a wild ride. Expect jaw-dropping tandem moves, near falls, and moments of pure anarchy as these teams battle for tag team supremacy.
Grudge Match: Blood Feud Comes to a Head
One of the most personal rivalries in NXT history will reach its climax as Xander Drake takes on Roderick Slade in a No Holds Barred match. These two have been at each other’s throats for months, with their feud escalating to dangerous levels. From backstage brawls to ambushes in the parking lot, this rivalry has been as intense as it gets.
Drake, the fan-favorite underdog, is fighting for redemption after Slade cost him a shot at the NXT Championship. Slade, on the other hand, is a sadistic competitor who thrives on inflicting pain. With no rules and no restrictions, this match will be a brutal, hardcore affair that could very well steal the show.
Breakout Star Showcase: The Future of NXT
NXT has always been about showcasing the next generation of talent, and this event will feature a special Breakout Star Showcase match. Four of NXT’s brightest prospects—Maya Cruz, Ethan Voss, Lila Hart, and Dax Steele—will compete in a high-stakes fatal 4-way match to determine who will earn a future championship opportunity.
This is more than just a match; it’s a chance for these rising stars to prove they belong on the big stage. Expect fast-paced action, innovative moves, and a glimpse into the future of WWE.

What are your predictions for the event? Who do you think will walk out as champion? Let us know in the comments below!
Very good show
I think his Ic run being so long hurt him as a credible world champion. It’s like he fought all the same guys and crushed them for a mid card belt now we are supposed to believe they are an actual challenge to him as a world champion? Lol when they took the intercontinental title off of him they should have moved him to SmackDown and put a new list of challengers in front of him. And moved Cody and the WWE championship to raw
Very good episode,
imagine being deluded enough to think a multi billion dollar company with guys who literally have wrestling in their blood hot shoted a heel turn storyline because they booked themselves into a corner. are you serious dude? that is the most ridiculous thing i have read in a minute lol. good luck bro.
Great episode.
Punk/Cody was there for the taking and Cena could’ve gone up against Gunther.
They knee jerked a heel turn because they booked themselves into a nepotism corner
Very good show
honestly don’t get the hate. like sure, there’s no major story here YET. But Punk/Rollins/Reigns has a lot of potential to be a high quality match. I’m legit looking forward to it and love that these three have wound up in a match together.
Great episode.
The triple threat match between them at Wrestlemania is gonna be awesome. Super stoked for this match
Great show
Let’s mention the women’s match in every live/hate challenge. Easiest task for this group of “journalists” ever. Each one of these love/hates are more embarrassing than the last. We get it, women’s wrestling is amazing and should main event every show and if a women’s match is bad it’s because where it is on the card or the booking it’s never the talent, all the women are top tier wrestlers.
Very good show
You wanna find out who the real simps and shills are? Mark down anybody who defends that main event match! Even the diehard AEW fans are crapping on that main event. It was terrible.
This Moxley stuff is stinking out the entire show and the dude seems to think he is Brock Lesnar.
The sad part is that this wasn’t a terrible show overall and with all things taken into an account. But at the end of the day, a bad ending can ruin a whole show for a lot of people. “Game of Thrones season 8” style.
Great show
So the crux of it all is that the PLE started strong…then ended with a sour belch.
The fans most remember how you left them and the fans are going to remember this show with a resounding “bleh”!
And any casual fan who watched with their buddies who are more diehard fans, may have left the viewing saying aloud, “That guy was pretty good. He should go to WWE”.
Great show.
I’ve said before but I think one of the issues here is that Tony is a massive fan of NJPW and often looks to emulate their PPV card structure. NJPW cards typically build to a climax with the big matches back to back and tend not to feature cool down matches or spots. Problem is western audiences haven’t been conditioned for that over the last 40 years, so often results in burnout. Personally I would have laid out the card like below giving breathing spaces, opening with the Steel Cage match and building to the Hollywood Ending as the main event.
Storm vs. May
Mox vs. Cope
Hangman vs. MJF
Hurt Syndicate vs. Outrunners
Takeshita vs. Omega
Swerve vs. Ricochet
Okada vs. King
Mone vs. Watanabe
Ospreay vs. Fletcher
Great episode.
Very good show, but the ending is what people remember. WWE ended Elimination Chamber with a huge heel turn. AEW ended Revolution with that abominable ending.
it doesn’t totally undo a great show, but it might have done more harm than good.
Very good show
I can already see Trips the mark statues, Trips the mark with a 20 minutes speech, the camera focusing onTrips the mark every 30 seconds when he is on the crowd.
Great show.
I’m glad they are bringing it back to a nice venue. The idea of hosting it immediately after Smackdown is insane. Why not put a highlight show or broadcast the Hall of Fame instead of airing Smackdown that week.
best of the best
Very good show tonight

Really don’t like that it’s the Women’s NXT North American Championship. Besides being an awkward mouthful, it’s too derivative of Men’s midcard title.
